Are there any good monster collection games besides Pokemon?

Also curious. Pokemon seems to be getting aggressively halfassed so I'm missing a game that fills that niche. Curious what the best of the bunch are, because there are a lot that are at least decent so don't know what I should try.

Digimon Cyber Sleuth is probably the best monster collecting game I've ever played.

Nah fuck off. I loved it, and it was far better than the last few gens of Pokemon. It's fast, has a decent story and the girls are cute. The combat alone is far fucking better than any pokemon game.

How so? I had a lot of fun with it. The story is a little weird but the battling is actually fun and difficult at times, which is something you can't say about Pokemon. Looking forward to completing the game.

The 3DS generations simplified the adventure w but but they're still good games. Sun/Moon scream consolized, but they are at least fun. Sword and Shield are legitimately bad games though. Extremely slow. Cutscenes are almost constant. Dungeons and exploration are literally straight lines. Basic things like going into gyms are turned into annoying ordeals where you have to sit through 10 minutes of cutscenes where you're introduced to flat, uninteresting characters. Additionally the new pokemon designs are the worst they've ever been. The fact not all pokemon are in the game is pathetic as well. They're just reusing all the Sun/Moon models anyway, and they for some stupid reason won't outsource to smaller studios to help ready chunks of pokemon. Well lo and behold, they resold a chunk of the cut mons as bad dlc. Did you know that installing the DLC actually slows down the game? Loading times in battles became longer. . .

the game was complete dogshit user. It had barely anything to do with digimon on top of that.

Better than any pokemon game since the 3DSS generation. And despite them being bare bones, they're still servicable. The quests are fast and not particularly tedious. I'd rather that, instead of an annoying pokemon NPC for me through 10 minutes of unskippable cutscenes to explain something basic, then to have a dungeon that's a straight line.
