>literally the embodiment of edgelord katana-wielding weeaboo
>everyone loves him
how does he pull it off so well?
DMC
By not being ashamed of himself.
He contrasts perfectly against Dante.
His voice actor is fantastic.
Devil May Cry is a story about family.
Was this Vergil talking?
He is blessed
V is not a distinct entity from Vergil, just a splinter of his soul. Everything V says and does is Vergil, same as Urizen, but in the complete being the two would counterbalance each other.
Because we can actually see the fantasy.
If you see that fat weeaboo edgelord kid with the katana doing judgement cuts everywhere, you'd think he's cool as fuck too.
Same reason Dante is beloved for his Radical woohoo pizza shenanigans whereas others like Sonic are lambasted for it. Because they're actually well-written and multifaceted whereas everyone else in each archetype is ONLY the wacky woohoo radical guy/super serious friendship sucks 2cool4skool guy.
The original vision for Vergil was that he was supposed to be a geniune edgelord, but Dan Southworth is way too goofy for that to work. So you get this happy mistake where Vergil tries to act cold and stoic but he can't help being a bit wild and fun-loving like Dante.
I think Itsuno talked about this in some interview, he said that Dan Southworth couldn't help "acting american" lol.
I just mean't in the sense that Vergil in V recognizes Lady from when he saw her in 3. It'd be a nice addition to his character if it shows that he wasn't completely dismissive of her in 3
You hate those katana weirdos because they're pathetic.
Vergil is not pathetic.
also
WHY ISN'T THIS WORKING?
If you're asking if V is speaking as he recognizes her from his time at Temen Ni Gru, than yes.
this
he's the freeza to dante's goku
also he's actually extremely fucking powerful
being fun to play as also helps
obviously
Because he's good at English
How many times are you going to make this thread? You think this reddit nonsense will keep the DMC thread alive?
Because both he and Dante are massive fucking geeks that despite taking themselves completely seriously they can't be taken seriously at all.
Why was it such a fun fight?
>Variety of moves tied to different phases
>Arena terrain changes with the phases too
>The bantz
>DEVIL MAY RAVE INTENSIFIES
It only works in the realm of fiction.
You'd find a Dante personality annoying too if you were to be acquainted to him in real life.
The only thing I don't like about it is that in each phase, 2 out of the 3 heads flop flaccid and unconscious while the 3rd head is the only one active; I get that they don't get along and each thinks its power is the strongest, but still, would look much cooler if all 3 were active all the time, even if only 1 attacks.
>superficially Vergil-like edgelords who are ashamed of themselves
I don't think I've seen this, or at least, I can't remember anything off the top of my head. Do you have any examples?
That's actually kind of funny that each of the heads are constantly fighting for control of the body, never noticed that
Nah, V already met them when they went to try against Urizen, and he chickened out to find Nero.
Maybe ashamed was the wrong word; and more of they never look back on what they do.
For example, Yugioh's Kaiba once built a dragon jet and never gets ashamed from someone pointing it out. Now that I think about it, I think the word I should have chosen was "confident".
>fully charge overture
>stick it to the Vergil's balls
>"Happy birthday! Now make a wish"
Nero is one ruthless bastard when it comes to beating his dad.
As expected of the great king cerberus. At least the dog in 3 had all of them active.
Reposting a quick update on the Zig Forums sings in case anyone missed it:
I have finished mixing the main vocals and I'm working on intermissions right now. My plan is to do rough auditory focal points and then filling them in with the various clips and recordings you lads sent me. This is the most fun part since I can flex my creative muscles and really fill the mix with all of your motivation. This is going to be one hell of a Zig Forums sings, so STAY MOTIVATED
Vergil must respect Lady for being an ordinary human who became strong enough to hunt devils.
>I AM THE STORM THAT IS APPROACHING
>PROVOKING
>BLACK CLOUDS AND ISOLATION
>I AM RECLAIMER OF MY NAME
>BORN IN FLAMES
>I HAVE BEEN BLESSED
>MY FAMILY CREST IS A DEMON OF DEATH
Vergil's edgy to be sure, but what makes his edge beautiful is that Vergil isn't a sadboy. The trauma with regarding his mother's death is honestly tertiary to his pure, innate desire to kick dante's ass for the sake of kicking dante's ass
I never thought of it this way. Wtf I love Lady x Vergil content now???
Sonic used to be multifaceted. Nowadays, he's 1-dimensional like the rest of his friends.
>but what makes his edge beautiful is that Vergil isn't a sadboy
he's literally the most JUST'd in the series
He did what we couldn't, so we aspire to be him.
Yeah, but this devil never cries.
This is factually wrong. V is Vergil's soul. He unknowingly cast himself away from his power using Yamato and forced to learn that his humanity is what makes him strong. Urizen isn't Vergil but echo's with his neurosis in regards to Dante and power. It's also why Urizen is so ugly, it has no soul, it has no humanity.
I love that Dan's dislike of the Jackpot line actually made it into Vergil's character in 5.
I love how you can see Vergil's disappointment as soon as he says the line
Vergil's motivations are pretty simple and easy for guys to appreciate
>I want to be strong because the world is shitty and ruled by power
>but also, I love beating the shit out of my annoying brother because he's my only worthy rival
>and I hate uppity losers like Arkham and Beowulf
Wait, Dan hates that line?
hate is a strong word
you're right, he's seething
kek, I never saw it like that.
I think he said that on a podcast or a panel, not sure.
Him and Reuben thought it was a goofy line when they were mocapping it and thought Westerners would laugh at it but have come around to it now that everyone loves the line
