For the past few years, I've been getting that feeling that I should considering the state of the industry. There's always one or two new games that keeps me hooked though.

Honestly I feel like the industry has shifted away from me rather than me growing out of vidya, the number of titles that I play a year that I enjoy seems to get smaller and smaller every year. I have noticed that I have become mechanic fatigued though certain games I will instantly feel like I'm just playing a reskinned version of anouther game and more than often drop it as a result.

Yeah I've grown out of the "Im going to make my own game!!!" phase and "Ill become a famous youtuber/streamer and make money playing video games!!!" phase and am slowly playing games less and less and buying any new games less and less. I kind of regret buying a gaymer pc instead of a car because I'd probably be in a lot better of a position in life if i had a car instead of a pc.

When I was a kid I used to play a ton of games at once, hopping between them as I see fit. Now that I'm older I tend to play one game at a time, taking my time all the way through and when I'm finished I won't play anything for a few months. I'm much more picky about what I buy these days for sure.

My interests in the medium have changed, but I still enjoy games. I wonder if people ages ago thought music or written/chiseled stories were childish? Games are a form of storytelling and expression. Yes it has been highly commercialized, but so have every other form of media you can enjoy.

I have a meaningful steady relationship and it didn't "replace" video games. If anything it added an extra layer to it due to basically having an always ready, always willing co-op partner.

Same, that's why I mostly play older games and indies outside of the few big AAA ones that get my notice. Currently on a SHMUP high, so refreshing to play games that actually respect your time and their own existence rather than just being time wasting simulators like the constant open world-style crap

I did, I play mostly out of boredom now, nothing to deep or lengthy, mostly stuff I already own.

I lost my fear-of-missing-out and don't miss it a thing when I go on vacation or have a lot of work or other stuff to do.
