Genshin Impact newbie thread

Just hit AR20 today and I still got a couple of questions:

• When should I start leveling my characters and to what extent? The maximum I can? So far I haven’t leveled them at all and even after now hitting WL1 I still feel no need to do so.
• Are all Constellation mats unique and I can therefore immediately use them without worries? I think I got a couple from rolling characters I already own but I’m not sure if they are unique or, like level up mats used by several chars each.
• Since I only reached AR20 today and thus got access to the Battle Pass only just now, how likely is it that I can reach level 30 and can get one of those weapons within the remaining ~12 days? Should I even bother trying? Or is it impossible and thus not worth getting? And are those rewards at the end actually any good compared to shit you can get as an F2P player?

oof, there's a lot to unpack here, where to begin
first off stop playing GI
if you're going to continue then I guess I have no choice.... but to answer your questions
>When should I start leveling my characters and to what extent
character level doesn't matter as much, there are things that matter a lot more than character level
Artifact Level > Skill Level > Uncap Level > Weapon Level > Character Level
>Are all Constellation mats unique and I can therefore immediately use them without worries
Yep
>Since I only reached AR20 today and thus got access to the Battle Pass only just now, how likely is it that I can reach level 30 and can get one of those weapons within the remaining ~12 days
not likely, unless you're going to spend gems on levels
>is it impossible and thus not worth getting
its plausible but not from grinding alone
>are those rewards at the end actually any good compared to shit you can get as an F2P player
you don't get shit as a f2p player
however if you purchased the pass (not recommended) and purchased the levels (really not recommended) then you'll get a bunch of high level materials that will make later grinds more bearable

I sincerely suggest you just stop playing Genshin Impact

I suggest killing yourself for being a mentally ill gachafag.

Is there a story you beat in this, with a plot, or is just endless grind?

But I want to play a gacha that is new and want to collect waifus.

plots still in development
the whole map isn't even finished
so you just endless grind until new content gets released

Found a Pedophile

I’m having fun so far, user, so I’ll keep playing until I don’t. But your points are well taken, guess I won’t be purchasing that then.

>Artifact Level > Skill Level > Uncap Level > Weapon Level > Character Level
Same question then: When should I start leveling (and with what)? I don’t wanna waste leveling shit that is gonna be useless to me within days because I’ll get something better soon anyway that’d be way better to dump resources into.
Also, uncap level? Meaning WL or ...?

advertising threads go in

Care to elaborate, user, or are you just being a contrarian? I haven’t spent money on it (and will never spend money on rolling) but still enjoyed every minute of it up to now. What is wrong with that?

OP here. There is a main plot and a bunch of side quests. At the leisurely pace that I am playing it (exploring every nook and cr*nny) there is definitely enough non-repeating a.k.a. non-grinding content to keep you entertained for tens of hours. Other anons said it takes about 100 hours to see/do everything unique that is in the game right now at least once and although I am only six days into the game I can see that being true.

Who else here is generating infinite matasuke mushrooms and eggs with their klee?

For what purpose?

Can you do that new event by just creating new accounts yourself?

cooking the best food in the game for atk and def?

Which new event? Did I miss something?

Well not really an event, more like a campaign to hook more players in, look in notices

Can I get a quick rundown on the game. I'm a gacha virgin and started playing this recently and I'm not sure what I'm getting myself into, the game plays like a regular action RPG and combat is mostly button mashing and to be fair it's pretty comfy. But then I read all this shit about AR20 and tier lists and pulls and I'm not sure I understand. Can I play through the story normally, Is there even a story or is it just grinding? Will more characters join my party like in normal JRPGs? Can I just ignore the cash shop?

What's better for klee, mappa mare or solar pearl?

Oh, that one.

I guess? In theory? Things is you would have to level 3 accounts to AR15 which is, uh, not efficient for the rewards that gives you. Just find some anons and rope them into GI. That’s what I plan on doing.

Also, who knows if they cross-reference hardware and do not count invitees who play on the same machine so you might even end up leveling to AR15 on a new account for nothing (or worse: get both accs banned).

level whatever character you're using as your main dps, max out their artifacts, talents, and weapon
for the rest, just level when you feel like you need to really
if you level everything on everything character now, you'll run out of resources later and won't be able to get more since you finished the story and all the quests that gave you resources
>Can I play through the story normally, Is there even a story or is it just grinding? Will more characters join my party like in normal JRPGs Can I just ignore the cash shop?
You get a full party just by playing the game for free and can finish the current story without ever touching the shop

I stopped at ar30 like a week or so ago, cant find it in myself to grind when all there is to do is fight the same couple fo bosses for shit I dont need, it's just so boring when you have nothing to raise your ar aside from stupid daily quests

How?

World level goes up after a certain amount of AR every so often and it's a huge spike in difficulty if you aren't gearing yourself. Tier lists aren't really too much of a deal unless you're going hard in abyss too.
I wouldn't expect to get too many free characters but they might hand them out from time to time. Xiangling you can get from clearing 3-1 of Abyss at AR20, Barbara is also free at that AR if you hit it before patch 1.1 and there's rumors of Fish being free eventually too but who knows. Just make sure if you ever spend primogems to roll, never roll on the regular wanderlust invocation that uses Acquaint Fates. There's a chance to get weapons instead of characters for 5* so it's not really worth it.
Besides that you can just go through the story and do stuff. The characters you get for free can clear everything. Amber is only really bad because baron bunny doesn't do damage until the explosion.

theres a tower in Lyue that has a bunch of fire torch puzzles, at the top floor theres a small crevice that you can get klee stuck in and use her dive attack, but she never lands, and it shakes a bush that generates mushrooms and eggs. once youre done farming you just teleport to the nearby teleport spot and run back and its all there

All the characters are good and viable for the main campaign (and even quite some ways into the post game as well). You'll find plenty of story, with more to be released episodically. We don't know if we're gonna get any more free characters atm. I'd advise not worrying too much about anything until you're AR 30 and maybe want to begin gearing up more seriously, and even then it's just a case of optimizing where you spend your grind able resources and then doing a little extra grind to catch up.

heres a picture for proof, i blanked out things that could potentially id me

Reroll a few times to get at least 1 5* character. You can go as deep as you want like any other RPG, but if you're just playing for fun, ignore the tier lists and other stuff and just have fun, until you don't anymore.

Why are you playing a chinese bootleg pay to win game?

>Leveling
Just level them up as you go. As long as you only level 4 characters, you should be able to keep them maxed up until the resin paypig wall no problem. More characters than that just means you'll be spending more resin/daily shit on character levels.
>constellation mats
Yes. They're specific to each character.
>Battle pass
No. Hitting level 50 in the BP is a trap, I'm honestly not even sure if you can get all 50 levels if you beat every challenge in the BP period (which requires logging in twice a day ~7 hours apart). And one of the weeklies is literally impossible without using resin refills (which cost primogems/money, apart from the scant freebies they throw at you). And with 12 days to go you'll probably barely get any of the lower level rewards. Not worth.

Get the card if you want something extra.

Have you reached adventure level 15 yet? If not, be a dear and enter this invitation code EN2K6LZL. ESC>Notices (left, below Take Photo)>participate in the Adventurers Assemble event>Link Friend button>Create bond. You get some shit for free that way and so do I.

Now to answer your qiuestions. Yes, you can play t hrough the story normally. The grinding comes mostly later after you are done with that. You get at least three more characters other than your MC for free but you will end up with more than those anyway if you do all the game has to offer. For example, doing the Abyss dungeon gets you another one for free, you sometimes get some in the mail for free and there are also free rolls that you as an F2P player will receive. On my first 10 rolls for instance on the Beginners’ wish I ended up with three new characters (pic rel).

And the cash shop, if you mean the one you see when you press ESC, can be ignored if you refer to the IRL money options but you should still make use of it with you free resources like Stardust/-glitter to get rolls (and if you play enough even characters directly via the latter).

Yeah i'm just worried about a ban if for some reason they can see stuff like that happening and they realize it's not just family members using the same pc, i have a few reroll accounts and trying to get all the gems i can atm so time wouldn't be a problem

Gonna go check it out.

Thanks, user. So when/what to start with though? As I said above, I don’t want to waste resources leveling artifacts/weapons that will soon become obsolescent because I pick up better ones. Is there a list or something of ones worth leveling up? Opinion among anons seems to differ since, for example, I got told to never level 3* weapons by some while others argued that certain 3*s are even better than most 4*s and even a few 5*s due to refining and what not.

Solar Pearl so you can go Crit-DMG% main stat on head piece.

you gotta get in behind the tree roots, be patient, and relog if you destroy the bush

Forgot the fucking pic.

>Levelling
Pick one or two characters you enjoyed mashing buttons with the most to level. This is usually a claymore user, Xiangling or Fischl. Level them up, level their weapon up and level their feather artifact up. If you need materials, the leylines give either cash or exp, the bosses give materials to ascend your characters, daily rotating dungeons give materials to ascend your weapons, and regular enemy drops and items you collect are all relevant to ascending as well. From AR 25 to AR 39, resources are slowly gonna tighten so you will wanna budget a little and keep to two/three of your faves.

>BP
I think there's a weekly cap on how much BP Exp you can earn so you might now be able to make level 30 in two weeks. The weapons are good and definitely give a leg up over craftable F2P options, but not getting them isnt a deal breaker for like 90% of the content.

Uh, what in the top right IDs you? Your latency?

’Cause it’s fun so far and with CP2077 delayed YET AGAIN I have to fill the wait somehow. I’ll just stop playing once it becomes a bother.

Noice roll. Too bad Chongyun doesnt play too well with Razor. (I say this as a Chongyun main)

Bros...anyone here who isnt AR15 yet and would want to use my code

Appreciate the reply. What about their equipment? How do I tell which ones are worth leveling? I don’t waste my resources on shit that ends up obsolete like two days later when I picked up better stuff via story or random drops.

Also, regarding leveling, I just checked for the first time and am I seeing this right? The max char level corresponds to/is capped by Adventure Rank? If so, I don’t think I even need to level most of them since they are within ~4 levels of that one anyway.

Thanks. How long do you usually do it for? How long does it take for stuff to despawn?

idk potentially, so i blocked it out

will you cry when paimon dies in the next update?

Wow this is hilarious. You guys better not spread this around to other places or it might get patched

idk i just started doing it myself, ive let it sit for about an hour now

>be a dear and enter this invitation code
sent:^)

We're probably just gonna get banned.

put em on a team with barbra and have them synergize off of her.

Hasn’t stopped me from using both anyway, haha.

Thanks for the in-depth response, user. How do I tell which items are worth leveling though? I don’t wanna waste resources on the equivalent of a Dull Blade only to pick up something way better tomorrow in the story or a random drop.

Oh and how does Character Ascension actually work? Does the game itself explain that and I have simply not gotten to that point yet? AR20 as I said and only just now going to Stormterror’s Lair. Haven’t even left the region of Mondstadt till now.

Attached: yeah, yeah, bad party, I know.jpg (358x384, 52.34K)

Unnecessary but okay.

No joke, what is Paimon even good for lore-wise? So far she has just been a cheeky, gluttonous brat that made some (for the overwhelming number of cases) blindingly obvious observations every now and again. I have yet to see her be of any actual usefulness to the MC.

When you hit the level cap you have to hit a certain AR then you use some materials and money to ascend. You can always check the next ascension's requirements by pressing the little star with an arrow button above the EXP bar in the level up screen if you haven't hit cap yet.

Bless you, user, and good luck with your journey. Feel free to ask anything else. There’s a couple of things you may or may not know yet (depending on your level/Adventure Rank). Like stuff to do and not do.
