why is/isnt this the best smash game?
Why is/isnt this the best smash game?
Cause it doesn't have gatornigger
Its the best because the gameplay is the best, and it also has more soul than any other smash game. It now has the best online functionality as well.
its a matter of opinion, user. if you enjoy fast paced and technical combat then this is the best. I personally enjoy the content and visuals of ultimate more so thats the best one imho.
melee has freedom of movement. the more movement options you have the better.
Don't you remember user? Honest opinions are not allowed on Zig Forums
>Ganondorf laughing in your face is F tier
git gud
i wish everyone else thought about it like this, that being said i prefer melee
Ultimate has better movement options, ones that aren't glitches. Melee is objectively terrible compared to Ultimate, and the mass amount of matchups in Ultimate makes it inherently the deeper game.
So what you're saying is that when someone mods Ultimate to be similar to Melee similar to Project M we will have the perfect game?
Name 2 glitches that are often used regularly.
Wavedash, L-cancel and shine cancel were all implemented there and known by the developers from the get go.
It is though.
Jump canceling, momentum preservation, shield-drops.
>and it also has more soul than any other smash game
nope. ultimate has more “soul” because it focuses more on the crossover aspect of smash. all the hidden details in ultimate really show the dedication of sakurai and his team. all the fan outcry from melee onward was taken into consideration this time too (see the roster and stage selection)
what movement glitches does melee have that people use?
wavedashing was known during development and was intended. wavedashing and wave landing is just momentum continuing when landing on the ground.
>Sakurai: Of course, we noticed that you could do that during the development period. With Super Smash Bros. Brawl, it wasn't a matter of, "OK, do we leave it in or do we take it out?" We really just wanted this game, again, to appeal to and be played by gamers of all different levels.
are these things supposed to be bad?

i never understood why people hate moving with "glitches." What's the logic behind that?
Sakurai telling someone how to use wavedashing:
nintendo.co.jp
L-canceling: Z-Canceling was a thing in N64, and was purposefully carried over. Z-Canceling was also in the game's documentation.
Shine cancel has to be specifically programmed to do that
it doesnt make sense, these are people that get their opinions from other people and never think for themselves
None of these are glitches. There are a bunch actual glitches in Melee and this is all you could come up with?
even if these were glitches, whats the problem with using them?
from the official smash bros 64 site under advanced moves it describes how to Z cancel. pic related
archive of old smash bros site:
web.archive.org
L-Cancel was Z-Cancel from 64, Wavedash it's something that Sakurai himself explained how to do in japanese forums in 2002
nintendo.co.jp
>the mass amount of matchups in ultimate
doesn't matter since most of the characters are trash and at the end of the day it's just like melee in the sense that you only have to worry about relevant top tiers and the rest of the cast are so unusably bad that you don't need to lab the MU to beat them
when you decide to move left or right in melee, you have more movement options than in an entire game of ultimate.
I don't get it either, if anything glitches make movement more fun. Rocket jumping, bunny hopping, strafe jumping, etc. make first person shooters way more fun just like the movement tech in Melee makes it feel so much faster and more fluid compared to any other Smash game.
You are either trolling or the most retarded person I've seen on Zig Forums all week. Ultishit is the worst smash game.
im interested in hearing more from the "melee is a glitchfest" crowd. what glitches does melee have? how do they affect competitive play? why are later games better off without them?
I like ultimate better because of the shitty unplayable online and because of how incredibly gay everything looks and how shitty it is
If you don't think exploiting glitches to gain an advantage over your opponent's true skill is bad, I don't know what to say. There's a reason Ultimate doesn't have this garbage, and there's a reason Ultimate will outlive Melee.
One of the most free and satisfying games ever. Unfortunately terribly balanced. The technical barrier could be a bit of a double edged sword, filters the casuals but I know not one person who enjoys L cancelling
It's not even close.
Better combos
Better movement
Better sounds (those hitsounds mmmmmmm)
More soulful graphics (imo)
Better online (the absolute state of Nintendo LMAOO)
why does melee make people seethe so much? all smash games get shit on by fgc but melee even makes other smash game players shit themselves
as a melee player, I think it took them way too fucking long to ban wobbling. I don't know if i'd call it a "glitch" per se, but that shit alone probably made a lot of people think the game was unplayable competitively, even though top players could always deal with icies. first local I went to I got wobbled out twice
nice troll. im bored but not even i will entertain this
...
Mechanic I don't like/understand = glitch
Just watch 5 minutes of Melee gameplay. Every single movement players make is glitchy as fuck. Asking people to list to glitches is an absurd task.
are you sure about that? if i posted a clip, could you point out just one or two glitches?
I enjoy L cancelling. It's not just an arbitrary technical barrier because it actually introduces complexity to the game. Since you can't fast-fall in hitlag it forces you to be aware of when you hit people. It introduces more counterplay, since for example you can mix up your shield spacing to trick up your opponent's L cancels. Spacies would be so much more braindead if they could just shit on people's shields without having to think about L cancel timing.
They're not asking for a list, just name ONE glitch that actually affects things.
the glitches melee players use to give them a competitive edge only contributes towards making the game more fun
Never thought of it that way
either you are under the impression that somewhere a melee player doesn't know how to wavedash or this is bait.
The millenial fears Melee, as it is the one old thing they cannot destroy through their autistic screeching that they call "memes." People having fun playing old games and not consooming the latest product strikes great unease into the heart of the soulless millennial, as it cannot comprehend an existence that isnt shitting on everything they dont like and shilling for new products.
>There's a reason Ultimate doesn't have this garbage, and there's a reason Ultimate will outlive Melee.
Yeah, keep telling yourself that when ultimate 2 comes out and what little non-pedo pros are left by 2028 all move to there. Remember when faggots were saying this shit with smash 4?
i only play with friends and brawl and ultimate were way more fun
The only problem with this argument is that you can double trigger L-cancel to cover both timings, making the whole mixup moot. No one actually does this though.
To be fair L cancelling is pretty painful to learn. The worst part of melee is how high the barrier to entry is.
