They've already burned a lot of their image they have made as a pro-costumer company and fucked with a lot of the natural excitement surrounding the game. I doubt it will actually release in December, but if it does, and there is so much as a tiny visual bug in the game, they are getting a whole new asshole torn for themselves. And judging by TW3's release, it will be pretty fucking janky no matter what they do. As for TW4: Ciri, that alone would make me drop them, because that annoying little cunt took over both the books and the game, to the degree that she's taken over the game's conclusion and Geralt only got an ending in the fucking expansion.

TW3 released in May 2015, Blood and Wine in May 2016. Assuming a similar window between initial release (probably sometime in April 2021, lel) and the last proper expansion, by the time the last expansion is out you'd get a substantially reduced price even without any particular sale, and you might get an offer for the whole thing. I for one can certainly just focus on my backlog, and before I know it I'd be able to play the game for less money, by then on a better system. I was willing to get Cyberpunk 2077 on launch on sheer fanboyism alone, but fuck that at this point.

The source material itself did, she became a co-protagonist very quickly after being introduced. TW1 and 2 are mercifully free of her, but she had to be included in 3. Ciri is Geralt's and Yenefer's adopted daughter, she is super special and was trained as a witcher despite not having mutations that the normally only male candidates would get, she is also a sorceress, has ancient elven blood in her that carries a prophecy, plus a bunch of royal lines and half the courts in the setting were after her for one reason or another. She has ashen hair, everyone loves her or needs her, and a lot of the lesser cast lusts after her only to meet a grim end soon after.
