No they don't, consoles rarely release even with ONE game. You have Shadowfall against Demon Souls and Miles Morales. The problem is alot of the hype is just fucked because its corona year, but also because Horizon, Miles Morales, and now God of War Ragnarok are all going to have PS4 versions.

You're older, more jaded, and have more important shit to worry about.

Two gens ago it was a bit different, the 360 was huge and the PS3 caught back up and always has its core audience. So swapping to new consoles was a big deal. Now, its not even close, most people will just sit in the same ecosystem and crossplay is becoming more and more common so you don't need to throw out a vote.

It's almost like we have a fucking global pandemic and presidential election on our hands and people have more important shit to worry about.

This is me. I learned this about a month ago. I felt nothing when the PS5 showcase happened, I felt nothing when the Xbox Series X games showcase happened, but I was hyped when I saw the 3080 and now the 6000 series GPUs from AMD. I had more fun anticipating acquisitions even if they wouldn't happen (like SEGA), having the epiphany of Microsoft's true focus (gamepass and xCloud instead of physical box sales), fucking around here while not playing video games, and stuff like that. I'm going PC and retro this time around. NES up to Dreamcast with a sprinkle of Wii games and the very occasional "new" game.

They were thinking that people will pay for it and they will. It's just a fact. A 70 dollar price tag will not change the minds of people stupid enough to preorder games and buy them at launch. They want to beta test and they'll do it at a premium.

The last "next" gen was coming out when the 360, ps3 and Wii U were the consoles on the market, so there was immense demand for a replacement. The Switch and PS4 are both still popular and don't feel particularly outdated so there's less excitement for the new gen. Still, I expect it to sell pretty well just because normies love spending money on stuff they don't need.
