Is it true that the "Scholar of the first sin edition" made the game worse?
Dark Souls 2
No, both games are fine
>This is fine
yup
>This is fine
yup
>This is fine
oh no OP you triggered the webm autist
Sure is a lot of samefagging going on in this reddit thread
This thread is reddit repellent.
I feel like it did. It made a lot of arbitrary changes simply for the purpose of making it more "difficult"
these games have always had jank ass physics and collision though, that's been a thing since Demon Souls
what the fuck am i looking at??
It's mostly an improvement with a few detriments (like Heide's Tower), but it doesn't fix the core problems.
Spudrunners think Scholar is worse because it takes longer to finish.
Get fatshamed piece of shit.
I don't know what it is but DaS2 always feels like a chore to play through, and I platinum'd it. It's just so fucking boring and depressing.
It's also the longest in the series, specially with the 3 DLCs. By the time you're halfway through you burned out
vanilla is retarded. no infusion ember until fucking iron keep
This but DaS3.
I will never understand DS3 haters
Aside from having the mostly linear world design of DS2 and an overabundance of bonfires, the game is perfectly fine
This run to the blue smelter and the frozen outskirts are so bad that they are the only parts where I went out of my way to despawn the enemies.
Not a fan of the new enemy placements, like some user said it feels like we're playing a rom hack
I like that the dlc keys are hidden in the world instead of being thrown in your bag when creating a character
Roll and r1 spam are way too strong in ds3. DS2 got shit for the 4 old souls being tied to the great souls from DaS, ds3 chucks fucking everything in and no one bats an eye.
It's called having a high IQ and strong distaste for Marvel garbage.
People keep saying this, but they never even give examples. You don't like the Heide Knights at the Tower? What?
>Marvel garbage
wtf am I reading
It's a shortcut path to reach the blue Smelter Demon in the Brume Tower DLC. You're meant to have another player pull the lever and then you run though, or you pull the lever, kill the guys, then pull the lever again and then run to the other side. People typically don't want to deal with the axe knights but dodging even once delays you long enough that you can't run under the bars even though there's empty space because some of that empty space underneath the gate is still considered a solid gate coming down.
Blue Smelter's run is super easy, I don't know why people have such trouble running to him. Just take the left path and run past everything, the only trouble will be the first and second axe guys who you just roll through their attacks, and the second one sometimes never even bothers to attack. As long as you're not buffing outside the fog gate you will always beat the lava giant into the gate by one or two seconds. Going the shortcut path is a death sentence and takes forever. Frozen Outskirts is inexcusable though, I just summon and run to the gate then BC everyone out to fight the cats.
I think he means DS3 is much more about visual spectacle than the previous games, and I tend to agree.
>I'll never understand DS3 haters
I don't hate DS3, but
>Retarded levels of fanservice
>Almost entirely retcons DS2 out of existence when it had interesting characters and plot threads that could have been continued which is insulting given it wallows in DS1's greatness
>Zones are nothing more than busywork, near-universally boring and frustrating to play through. Visually, Irithyll is the only exception but even that ends in yet more DS1 cocksucking
>Seriously I can't overstate how boring DS3 zones were, at least the shit ones in DS2 were pretty like Amana. DS3 reuses the same rooms in TWO ADJACENT ZONES (CC and SL)
>Linear as all hell
>Powerstancing removed
>Weapon Arts added but poorly balanced (lmao scythe WA)
>Rollspam bonanza makes PVP a chore
>Incredibly bland covenants, two "counterinvasion" covenants and two "zone defense" covenants without even the gimmicks that DS2 brought to the table for those covenants with Pharros Lockstones
>Removed farming more copies of a spell which is good but added mana which meant there was now an enormous opportunity cost to using anything beyond your best all-around spell; this makes WAs awkward to use for casters and makes niche spells like HCSM much worse because it takes away from your breadnbutter
>Too many gimmick bosses. Wolnir, Deacons, CRGW, Yhorm, Ancient Wyvern
>First DLC is laughably overpriced and is basically "pay 15 dollars for the privilege of fighting Friede"
>DS3Firelink is shit
>Dark Magic fucking removed as a magic type
I won't touch on the people who are pissed that DS3 is more of a sequel to Bloodborne than a DS title, that's more personal preference (even if the Maria/Friede thing is ridiculously obvious).
>Oh my h*eckin' goodness! Did you see that boss enter its FIFTH PHASE?!
>OMG! It's doing le friggin' anime flips now!
>WOWW! Was that a heckin' Dark Souls 1 reference?
>WOW!! Gwyn's music played during the final boss! So sad! ;_;
DaS3 is aimed at the exact type of shit eating normie who swallows up Marvel movies. The entire appeal of the series was thrown in the trash with it. Your IQ has to be in the double digits to enjoy this game.
Soul of Cinder would have been a fantastic callback to DS1 had you not just played through 40 hours of DS1 callbacks
>Retarded levels of fanservice
I actually liked this to some extent. It was supposed to be the ending of the series, so some homage to the previous games was expected
>Too many gimmick bosses
Nothing wrong with fighting a boss that involves something other than rolling and spamming R1
>5 years ago Sotfs was the best and hardest souls according to Zig Forums and everyone
>Now Sotfs made it worse and 2 was the worst again
WELL. WHICH IS IT
The latter.
Ds2 is by far the shittiest souls game, but if you get used to it it is still very fun, and has almost double the content of the other souls. And I'd say it's the hardest but my perception of these games' difficulty is pretty warped.
it's over bros
2 might be shit, but at least it was honest.
3 was dishonest shit.
