Anyone who has actually played the EA knows what's happening, Gale will 100% have the highest affection for the vast majority of players since he's the only one who consistently approves of you doing noble and heroic things. Even Wyll is a cunt when it comes to certain things, Shadowheart is mixed and Lae'zel/Asterion are total pieces of shit. So it's no surprise Gale is #1.

I just want to remind you all that it's not "Romance" it's affection. The games romance system works through a simple add and substract binary system. You do X, you achieve Y. Gale is one of the easiest to please, especially in a persons first run of the game because his way of romancing him is by being a good guy.
He didn't get chosen the most, he got the most affection despite the fact that no one actually chose him, simply because he's the easiest. You play the game without being an asshole and he immediately falls in love with you.
