It is, but stop playing at AR30. The main story stops on a cliffhanger (willbe continued after patch), but you might be tempted to fall into a pithole of daily grind, meta and gambling that lies after AR30. Just stop once you complete main quests and return after patch. Before AR30, this game is wonderful and GOTY material, for free.

In terms of predatory gacha this is a title you can complete EVERY SINGLE THING without spending any money and I have spent and I enjoy playing the MC a lot so there isn't even an argument to spend other than waifu collecting

Outside of this system there is a lot of fun gameplay.

Abyss need you to have two teams, F2P can unlock to floor11 right now but they can't get full rewards, do you think Mihoyo will also allow you to play welfare outside main story forever? This is a gacha and they will make sure pure F2P no rolls will not work at some point anymore and you will only have as option to quit, i am not sayin to buy raw crystals packs but what even is the point to play if you are never gonna roll?
Atelier or Tales are a far better experience than this if thats how you play

Yes, you can, you can't get full rewards at the moment, F2P can barely unlock floor 11, and by not getting full stars on floor 9, 10 and 11 already clearable by BP owners and dolphins in general you are missing out 450 primos every 12 days.
F2P are lucky if they can collect...150 primos? literally nothing, not even worth the resources spent let alone the hours, days to get the result done

The main source is doing dailies. Abyss is supplemental and most people won't have much success in the later Abyss levels. Not for a while anyway.

Yeah I've seen whales with really nice artifacts get filtered where f2p chads with shit tier artifacts effortlessly succeed. There's a matter of skill on top of rng luck.

It's a massive anime inspired action adventure RPG with some gacha and f2p time gating bullshit. JRPGs as a genre died ages ago, DQ was almost always subpar and Tales aren't something I can enjoy with that god awful writing it has. You mentioning fucking Atelier made me laugh out loud.

This game being unfinished didn't stop it from giving us dozens of hours of fun. The promise of more is only icing on the cake which is why I say no JRPG in recent memory comes close.Especially gameplay wise.

Let's be honest, everyone expected this game to be chink botw gacha, but it was chink diablo gacha with some exploration instead

Abyss floors scale up really hard with stupid DPS/elemental requirements. It can be done as F2P but because the game heavily gates everything you do it's currently a huge challenge to do the last few floors even if you try to pay your way through it.

It's not a matter of paying or not, it's a matter of "it takes a long ass time to get the materials to upgrade your characters to a level where it's feasible to clear abyss" and throwing money at the screen does little to help with this. Resin refreshing is incredibly expensive and there's a hard cap how many times you can do it per day.

You have to configure your teams based on the floor, you can't lock in specific teams and think you'll succeed.
