Whatever happened to that fan Star Fox game? I vaguely remember reading about it like 7 years ago and then radio silence.

Event Horizon? As far as I'm aware UndyingNephalim is still working on it. His latest video was 2 months ago.

I don't remember if this was the one I'm thinking of or not, but looks sweet!

In the current climate of vidya? Very.

You could literally make a fucking cheapass indie Star Fox game that plays like the old games and costs a couple bucks, throw it on the eshop and people would probably like it more than the shitshow that was zero.

I don't know of any other fan games that actually had more than a tech demo. This game has been in development for over a decade though iirc.

You could but the question is will the fans accept it and will it attract new players.

Do shitty gimmicks attract new players? Obviously not.

The fans need to be catered to and the only way to do that is to give them a decent game. If they can't afford that risk that's why I suggested the indie game route.

>The fans need to be catered to and the only way to do that is to give them a decent game
The fans aren't braindead user especially when it comes to Star Fox. Well you might be given that you want a complete rehash but whatever.

Its because Miyamoto doesn't see it as a franchise to stand on its own. He sees it as a test bed for innovation. He wishes Star Fox was more popular, but can't see that his vision is what is holding it back.

Hand it to back to Cuthbert and tell him to do whatever it takes to make Star Fox great again. He made SF1, SF2, 64, Command, and 643D. I know command is pretty panned, but judging a recent article, that game was also held back at its core by Miyamoto.

And before anyone mentions Command's writing, that wasn't Cuthbert or his company.

What kind of game can you honestly see Nintendo making? An open ended space exploration game with extensive land combat, tons of weapons, online play, multiple characters, etc, etc...

Or do you see them just doing another on rails game again? You might be braindead if you think the current state of Star Fox is ever going to see a big budget game ever again. The best we can hope for is some cheap little game for the oldschool fans. That's where we're at right now.

>Its because Miyamoto doesn't see it as a franchise to stand on its own.
That's because it isn't. The series never did particularly well.

He wasn't involved with 64 dumbass

They made kid Icarus uprising which did much better than star fox zero so they likely lost faith in Star fox to make money. They would also likely want to make another kid Icarus if anything because it might yield more money but can’t cus the person who made it all work doesn’t want to make it again so nintendo’s Hand’s are kind of tied

Cope zoomer. 4 of the games sold over a million. FAGGOT!

Yeah, not particularly well

Star For wasn't good to begin with. It was only cool at that time. They would have to make a proper space game. Not a fucking rail shooter.

Why would they make a big game like that if they know the games won't sell?

Star fox dating sim when?

There was a SF like game where you used toys. How hard did it fail? It even had SF ships.

desu this is all star fox is good for anymore. Nintendo needs to embrace it.

It sold pretty abysmally, but the Switch version sold the best because of the Star Fox stuff (presumably).

>Event Horizon
Star Fox goes to hell?

To actually try new ideas and get it to sell.

Star Fox is already in hell

Starlink?
It was okay but sold like utter shit.

Nintendo hate almost every franchise it has except for Mario, Zelda, and Pokémon

why would anyone thinks someone wants to play this?

The best selling Star Fox games were
>Star Fox
>Star Fox 64
>Star Fox Adventures
>Star Fox Assault
>Star Fox 64 3D

Of those five games, one is an outlier (Adventures probably just rode on the success of 64) and the rest are basically rail shooters with one being a remake of a previous rail shooter. Assault tried some new ideas and as a result was the worst selling of all those games.

Kirby is up there, too.
