Zig Forums plays Xenonauts 2 closed beta

Now that the devs have released a new build, let's start a fresh game. Name the campaign, select the country for our first base and name it. I'll post a screen with the available soldiers so you can name them and also pick their equipment and check their stats.
The initial weapons are a pistol, sub-machine gun (these two are the only avilable weapons for the combat shield, besides melee weapons and other items), light machine gun, shotgun, rifle, sniper rifle, grenade launcher, stun baton and combat knife.

I wont make any more toons and wait for some other people but can you please show what Natasha looks like with 1 HMG and how much extra ammo and weight she can carry

I kind of liked Xenonauts. Some things I liked less than that of old Xcom, and some things I liked more. But overall I liked the game.
But then I'll have to admit that ever since I got into OpenXcom I never really felt the need to open up Xenonauts again. And it's not as if I disliked the game or anything, I thought it was good.

So how is Xenonauts 2? Is it an improvement over Xenonauts 1?

The menus were fine in 1 already. I think most of the work is going into making the game 3d

Is it worth playing open xcom over xenonauts? I played a bit of both and the readability and weapon variety of xenonauts seems nice to have.

I like the updated visuals but dont know much about any gameplay improvements theyve made
Hopefully they add a way to counter psychic attacks, that stuff is just pure bullshit

I like xenonauts more. X-Division adds a whole bunch of stuff too if you want variety

Seriously? That's kinda hard to believe, as they were basically just banking on those changes to justify making a second game. What changed now?

aim is always dogshit for the first couple missions thats why I like having at least 2 machineguns for suppression
what youre supposed to do is put the rookies with the lowest aim on snipers because it gives aim bonus
then strong dudes on machine gun
and best aim dudes on rifles

I guess they realised that they couldn't beat firaxis at their own game, so they decided on improving the already existing formula. IIRC the main drive is increased mission variety, more ayys, more air game mechanics, stuff like that.

tbqh nucom stuff made by firaxis is way too casual at least thats what I think
