I really did not like the ending because living in a world where people are capable of reading your fucking memories and thoughts sounds absolutely horrifying.
I mean that's sort of it, but not really. Humanity is an aberration that is unwittingly terrorizing other lifeforms that we don't even know about and then in the second book we get outplayed before anyone even knows what the game is and the world falls apart.
