I played the demo and it was really fun, i like the hell bent on revenge rat.
Until i got t the boss fight room which was just agonising. Forcing trial and error, rewinding time and retrying every two seconds until you blunder through because its impossible to know what instant kill the enemies are going to do.

I had more fun going back and using the first stage's music but on Hard mode for the boss. That feature is legitimately brilliant and gives the game a lot more replay value.

Not sure but the demo was the first chapter/world and it had like 4 levels and a boss (I forget exactly), and I can't imagine the game is longer than 4 or 5 of those. That's about 20 levels and 5 bosses roughly, but that's a guess. Even with a little more than that I wouldn't think it'd be worth $40 since each one takes about 5 minutes to beat.
