Villain is evil because... he's evil

Yes.
If they can't write a good story for the villain then it might as well just be a matter of nature.
Signs of a terrible author
for a contrarian website I was expecting a lot more pushback over this idea that "one dimensional villain = bad"
sometimes people are cunts and there isn't some tragic backstory behind it. this is fine
>speedreader didn't understand Kristoph motivations and reasoning over what he did
Sometimes people become cunts. I want to know why.
There isn't any, but that's supposed to be his characterization. He hides his pettiness and resentment with a veneer of sophistication and composition.
he was butthurt about wright getting the spotlight, so used forged evidence(which he was gonna use against his brother lol) to ruin his career. The plan itself was smart but in the end it seems like it was only because he felt humiliated
Well I always say if there are zombies, I need to know why there are zombies. "There are zombies," is shit writing.
why would you want to know that?
when some incel shoots up a school I need no more explanation than "he did it because he couldn't get pussy"
Attending college is enough.
He decided to fuck his potential client over because he dared to pick another attorney over him, then attempted to kill the guy who knew of it and eventually the client himself. There was nothing there to avoid classifying his behavior as huge overreactions.
because some incel is not the main villain of an ace attorney game
that's how it often is in real life as well
but incels are the main villains of some of the most beloved stories in videogames and cinema
and von Karma murdered Greg Edgeworth and raised his son to be a mockery of everything Edgeworth sr. ever believed in, then attempted to frame the son for the murder von Karma himself committed all because he was butthurt he got a minor penalty on his otherwise spotless record
Incredibly petty villains were nothing new for the series
Ok retard, since you just mashed A through the game
>be Kristoph
>be hired by super popular Zak Gramarye to be his attorney
>fame and recognition if you manage to pull it off
>forge evidence and make sure you have everything ready to win the trial because you're that thirsty for fame
>suddenly your client calls off the whole thing because you looked at him funny during a game of cards
>get replaced by Phoenix Wright, a joke buffoon of an attorney
>all of your money wasted on that forgery
>get back on him by using the fake evidence and ruin their career
>become a paranoid fuck because Zak bailed and your scheme could be discovered at any second
>spend 7 years in paranoia lurking in the shadows and making sure shit doesn't come to light
Doesn't take a genius to figure out why Kristoph killed Zak and did everything he did. And no, "being salty over losing a card game" is not the reason, retard. Try paying attention to the game next time.
He also got shot in the shoulder and found himself faced with the perfect chance to commit the crime. He probably wasn't going to go off the deep end and plan things out himself if all that hadn't happened.
von karma got a penalty on his spotlight record, kristoph just lost his chance to beat his brother in court. I mean kristoph killed 3 fucking guys, von karma seems tame in comparison when I think about it
I feel like that reward goes to Dahlia though. He killed people out of jealousy, a bit petty but it was a reason. Why did Hawthorne even do the things she did? Did she grow a fetish for murder after her boyfriend died?
He tried to poison the forgers before he was even taken off the case, he was always an evil paranoid fuck
didn't she want that diamond or something?
CONTROVERSIAL HOT TAKE: I don't think Zak is a bad person. Self-centered and unintentionally inconsiderate, perhaps, but he means no harm.
Good for them I guess.
Kristoph was a massive waste of an evil defense attorney and Klavier is worthless. AA4 fags are the inbred cousins of the series
Yep, and after that she just went crazy with her murder sprees. That case probably mind fucked her.
>WAAAH KLAVIER IS NOT LE ASSHOLE PROSECUTOR WHO HATES THE DEFENSE ATTORNEY WITH LE TRAGIC BOO BOO BACKSTORY
>not understanding what caused a tragedy and preventing something like that from happening again.
least the art's nice
Kristoph HAS a tragic boo boo backstory but he does nothing with it. He has literally no tangible character development despite his brother making a mockery of the court and being a murderer, and then his bandmade also killing someone.

>When you lose a poker game and murder your client but the bass still slaps
tfw no qt medium gf
Fuck you. People like you are why every villain nowadays has to be humanized with a sad fucking backstory.
I like that Klavier is pretty chill and laid back and has no personal animosity towards Apollo, he's just doing his job.
He's just not very interesting as a human being and he isn't engaging as an antagonistic force. Edgeworth, Franziska and Godot all had charisma and drew the attention of the room when they spoke, Klavier is just kind of...there
>villain is evil because he lost at poker
You don't have to be a cunt to be a good prosecutor character. Blackquill and Nahyuta are much more subdued than Edgeworth1 and Franziska but they still feel like antagonistic forces. Blackquill doesn't cheat, doesn't tell witnesses to hide things, and never tries to fight against the truth, but he is also an adversarial force who is trying his hardest to win instead of just helping the defense along.
*because he sucks at poker
Hes evil because he almost had his career ruined through a shitty first defendant and spent the rest of his time covering his tracks.
In actuality he's the most forward-thinking and justifiable antagonist in the series.
Not my fault kikes use this to make faggot shit for normalfags to watch on Amazon Prime.
Nahyuta is literally the biggest asshole out of all of them
