Its the thrill of being terrified without any risk (although you have to be willfully ignorant of that last bit)

If you actually sit down and commit to watching a horror film not like a pussy and with the lights off, alone without turning the sound down every time something gets tense you'll enjoy the experience a lot. Its a bit like anal, it might be painful at first but you'll get used to it and eventually enjoy it.
