Why is Penetrator's sword covered in black and red energy? It looks all jagged. Wasn't the point of the Penetrator was that his sword was a huge penetrating weapon? How can he penetrate anything with all these spindly bits sticking out?
In the original, his sword was completely smooth and gleaming blue.

I think it looks great and I'm really excited to play it. The only thing I take issue with is the pre-order/deluxe edition shit.

I can't understand why the fuck they changed the effect on his sword. What possible reason could they even had to do this? It's not even "make it good or worse" it's just entirely different for no reason.

I'm no 3D artist. But as a 2D artist, my eye tells me that they used the wrong specularity. They went with soft specular lighting here, when it should be hard, in order to give the skin/scales more of a wetness. The soft specularity is what makes things look like claymation.

Are you dumb, I clearly said that the sword was covered in black and red ENERGY. It makes the sword appear jagged, because the sword is practically black itself. It doesn't have that clean, purposeful straight edge meant for penetrating. It's just generic red miasma for extra edginess.

havent played demons souls in years and dont even have a ps3 so im hype, when i did beat it i missed a lot of things too like yuria so its going to be kinda fresh

Other 2D artist here looks hella sharp on all edges even the textures of dragon skin so it looks flat combo with lighting and other factors and straight on images like this look flat almost

His armor is extremely decorative with red cloth, the ground is covered in rose petals, and the bloody sword looks beautiful. They're trying to make him look like an elegant knight demon. It doesn't look like the original, but its a good design.

You're thinking of staves in Dark Souls. Demons Souls always had that wand animation.
The main problem I have is that they are changing a lot of details for seemingly no reason. The tone is completely different and honestly ruined. Just compare the Flamelurker footage from DeS PS5 to the original. The old design looked like his skin had melted off, especially on his face. His grunts sounded less threatening and more just like he was in constant pain. The music like in most of DeS wasn't bombastic and loud, it was quiet and kinda somber, even for a challenging spectacle fight like Flamelurker. The PS5 Flamelurker looks like a Wow demon with a boring chitin exterior like so many other demon designs from the west. His grunts have now turned more into generic angry roars and the music is now bombastic and loud choir shit that we've heard hundreds of times before. Its missing all of the little details that literally are what make Demon's Souls worth playing even to this day. Don't even get me started on the new Maneater design. Its like they couldn't decide if they wanted to make a remake or a reimagining.

It looks elegant in the gameplay. The arena also looks a lot better than the original, and now he'll actually have a theme.
From what I can tell it's some sort of rose theme they added to the knight, honestly it looks like shit.

The animation was more of a flick or a whip. Hand raised to conjure, and then thrown forward to fire. While the remake pulls the fist back at the hip, like he's punching. I still like the original version better.

As long as all of the voice actors come back it should be fine. I'm pretty sure they got Evetta, and Yuria's actress has been in almost every soulslike game so they will for sure be back. Probably Patches too. I have ONE Complaint: I can't pre-order a PS5 because it's sold out everywhere.
You know if you don't like the changes you can always play or emulate the original so a lot of this feels like sour grapes because there's no PC version. Too bad, no Lore Friendly Thomas the Tank Engine replacing the Dragon boss.
