I fucking hate how successful this thing is, Zig Forums. This is coming from someone who fucking owns one too.
>Nintendo used to separate their videogame market into consoles and handhelds
>Home consoles for games you'd want to sit on a couch and play
>Handhelds for quick pick up and play games
>Now we have the Switch which is meant to bridge the gap between the two, allowing you to play both on handheld and as a console
Which on paper, sounds great. You get to take your games with you and then play them on the big screen but this is where the problems start
>Has done fucking nothing but hold back first party titles
>Third party titles run like shit and rely on "b-b-b-but now you can take it on the go!" as if anyone would want to take half of these games on the go rather than sit down and play them comfortably on a couch/bed/desk
>Age of Calamity runs like shit, XBC DE being a 'definitive edition' runs worse than it does on Wii with a resolution that's barely better, Sunshine has performance issues because the Switch isn't powerful enough for perfect GCN emulation
>What we could have had was all of these games running at a constant 1080p and at least a solid 30 if not 60 FPS if Nintendo had released a stronger home console
>The library is nothing but Wii U ports with occasional new games
>Paid online for terrible connections with your bonus being NES and SNES ROMs
>The Switch has had a 'theme' menu since launch, there's no home menu customization
>As much as I hate the soul/soulless meme, the eShop is the epitome of soulless. Previous eShops had nice music, unique UI designs and fun visualizations of downloading.
>Nintendo's strategy of dripfeeding content
This was the first Nintendo gen that made me jump ship and build a PC which I'm enjoying a lot. I know as an adult I'm not the target audience anymore, but fuck I just want decent hardware to enjoy their games on. Nothing about the Switch feels solid.
>inb4 seethe, cope and such
I literally am right now.

Just play No More Heroes instead, both are cheap as fuck.
After GCN you should've realized the direction they were going to be honest. Their handhelds were never power houses and their consoles from Wii forward are the same. The only credible arguments I see are lack of compelling 1st party release schedule and shoddy online

Combining handheld and home consoles is the smartest thing Nintendo has ever done. Nintendo handhelds have always had spectacular libraries.
2021 seems to be a pretty good year for the Switch if I have to be honest
> Bravely Default 2
> No More Heroes 3
> Shin Megami Tensei V
> Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne HD (multiplat)
> Atelier Ryza 2 (multiplat)
> New Pocky and Rocky
> Monster Hunter Rise
> Monster Hunter Stories 2
> Rune Factory 5
> Disgaea 6
> New Pokemon Snap
> Mario 3D World (Wii U port with an expansion)
> Bayonetta 3 (most likely)
> Zelda 35th anniversary ( could be a bundle of games or BotW2)
The switch arguably has the best gaming library of any console ever made.
Are people somewhat trying to pretend that the Wii U was more powerfull than the switch now?
> New Pocky and Rocky
I'm excited for everything else in the list too but I didn't expect to ever get a new Pocky and Rocky too damn.
It's gonna be nice to have an actual good year, for once. Every year since launch has been a disappointment so far.
2019 was pretty decent aswell with TSA, MM2, FE3H, Astral Chain, DQXIS and Luigis Mansion 3.
Seems like every even year is a drought year and the uneven ones are the ones with most games coming outt.
As someone who had over 40 Vita physicals and who also played a lot of those titles there, switch is pretty fucking great. Sucks for some people I guess
>the Wii U was more powerfull than the switch
Yes.
Nothing on shitch looks as good as Xenoblade X or Color Splash.
>No More Heroes
Can you play them without motion stuff?
It's nice for people who like it as ps vita 2.0 with slightly better western 3rd party representation (DOOM Eternal when?).
Origami king may be shit but it still looks as gorgeous as color splash
And yes the motion stuff in the NMH ports are completely optional, bloody great ports.
>looks as gorgeous as color splash
Nope, they downgraded the lighting.
Super Mario Odyssey and Fast RMX are the only switch games I own. The rest of the library looks like crap.
The "too many ports" argument is pretty accurate, although from a first party standpoint only, I think the GBA did worst in this category. But what really exacerbates it is third party games ports. There aren't enough 2nd/3rd party games that are original and it feels like padding when other gaming platforms have those ports for cheaper and when the Switch cartridges cost more and games cost more as a result and go on sale less often, it's a pretty bad feedback loop when developers don't get the sales they want so they don't port anymore or port more sucuessful garbage ports. Overall, this is probably the Nintendo console that has relied on it the most overall. Indies honestly are the one thing that is saving the platform on the third party front, and even then, I personally would get it on Steam/PC or any other platform over the Switch due to how bad the services side of Nintendo is especially with online and this matters a lot more when you have to buy digital.
In any case, my biggest problems with the Switch is really the regression on hardware build quality (Joycons, plastic quality, etc) and the power gap being way too big for even an average gamer when a smartphone on contract at the time of the Nintendo Switch release could cream it on hardware power. Granted, gaming on mobile as a whole was bad and the ecosystem was and still is near irredeemable which allowed the Switch to carve a niche. But I find it hard next generation to see it surviving without Nintendo taking the mobile threat more seriously. Cloud gaming on mobile with 5G will dent the next Switch's niche and it feels like Nintendo is still going to cheap out on it based on how the current Nintendo Switch has done. The most interesting things for me to see next gen is if Nintendo will keep working with Nvidia when Nvidia wants a bigger cut of money to make something for Nintendo and what hardware improvements they would want to make that wouldn't cut into Nintendo's margins enough.
>as if anyone would want to take half of these games on the go rather than sit down and play them comfortably on a couch/bed/desk
You have to play it "on the go" to play it at a desk/bed brainlet. Unless you actually think people want to use the tv screen to do that with the 1080p eye cancer on a 4k display.
You're 100% right about everything else though. The only way they could have fixed it would be to make it another Xbone, which removes any of the charm honestly. It'd be great if it was upgraded more frequently due to being mobile hardware but I guess Nintendo is going to keep being two gens behind lol.
>inb4 seethe, cope and such
You’re forgetting absolutely retarded user
>Wii U flops
>games released on it flop
>wtf why are they salvaging flopped games on the system that actually sold????
Wii U ports might as well be new releases.
Yup. I really have no complaints about the thing, but I'm in minority approaching it like this
>anime female pic
>low IQ post
>shitch defender
Triple combo.
He's stating facts, though.
Add Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town
This is exactly how I feel OP. I’ve been a Nintendo fan up until the Switch, but how I’m sick of their shit. This unified console space was supposed provide greater first party support. And yet here we are, generation almost over and it’s been 90% fucking Wii U ports. This generation will convince Nintendo that it’s no longer about creating great hardware and software, it’s all about marketing.

Mobile phones have become too successful and killed handhelds. You will never have a pure handheld system anymore. The Switch is simply trying to salvage the handheld experience for as long as they can before it finally dies. Never forget the golden age brought by the DS and PSP era. Be happy that it happened.
>4channers not even once
Despite what retards who think they know Nintendo try to tell you, they never cared about power.
>but muh ads!
Yes, they did tell you what they thought you want to hear, doesn't mean they cared. It was always about hitting price points and making toys for them.
N64 was actually the earliest you should've been able to figure that out since they weren't interested in making movies unlike, say, the Playstation, regardless of the fact that it would see them lose companies who wanted to make them like SE.
>Yes.
>Nothing on shitch looks as good as Xenoblade X or Color Splash.
And no shits were given since we're talking about games. Toys, not "art".
>And yet here we are, generation almost over and it’s been 90% fucking Wii U ports.
Nintendo has released 2700 games for the Switch?! How did they manage such an amazing feat bros?
