Anybody else feel ashamed/embarrased to play old games for the first time 10-20 years after everyone else? It feels like everybody else played it firsthand and talked about it for years and you feel alienated, empty and stupid.
Anybody else feel ashamed/embarrased to play old games for the first time 10-20 years after everyone else...
Man you're relating games to social life too much, try to see it as something you do for yourself, who cares if a game doesn't have a fandom or following anymore if you enjoy it anyway?
Dafuq? No. OP, stop being a dummy and just enjoy games as you play them.
Played deus ex for the first time in 2018, hasn't impacted my experience in any way. Stop acting like a retard, OP.
This has to be bait.
What game, OP? Maybe there are people that want to discuss.
lol no. If the game is good it's good, enjoy it and who cares about anything else
Nigger I read a fucking Seneca right now. It's more than two thousand years old at this point. It's still great and worthwhile read.
Why would you want to participate in a community when its infested with fotm trend chasing faggots instead of when the dust has settled and the only people left are the truly passionate fans.
Why the fuck would you be embarrassed, whats wrong with you.
>GTA IV
>GTA Vice City Stories
>Final Fantasy VIII
>Final Fantasy IX (played it as a kid but couldn't get past disc 1, so I guess it counts)
>Borderlands 2
>Half Life 2
Just a few examples
>Anybody else feel ashamed/embarrased to play old games for the first time 10-20 years after everyone else?
No. That's just you being a faggot like always.
No, but I do hate the mainstream media for only giving attention to garbage instead of the good stuff from their time.
....no?
No? I love reading classic literature and watching classic film for the first time, why wouldn’t I enjoy a classic game for the first time (besides it aging poorly)?
I played it in the middle of covid and it has been a unique experience
You didn't ask when to be born OP, if an old movie or game draws your attention just watch it/play it
this is what Zig Forums does to people
you're going to feel ashamed again when you realize the old games that Zig Forums strokes off all fucking suck too
I actually have the opposite autism. I have much less free time than all my friends so when they no life a game and talk about it nonstop I lose interest and drop it. But I'll go back later when all the hype has died down and play through it. I'm not eloquent enough to explain it well but I like to experience my games in a sort of mental isolation so everyone's discussion doesn't taint my experience.
le born in le wrong generation
One of thing I’ve noticed is that old games tend to age significantly worse than old films or books. Might have something to do with the technical limitations being so apparent and also the fact that a lot of old games had really questionable design choices at points.
no I love it.
I get it the crowd tries to influence your experience and you prefer to have it be more your own thing
I love to do that just to buy them dirt cheap in a sale
>muh aged wellz
Sure game graphics look shittier and the controls change, but that shouldn't stop you from having fun
Let me guess, you discovered a game from your favorate Youtuber and someone on Zig Forums bullied you for it like the pussy you are?
This happens if the only reason you play video games is to talk about them or use them as an excuse to socialize with other people
If you play games just to enjoy the game itself then this isn't a problem
There's nothing inherently wrong with using video games as a way to keep up with friends and be trendy, but social whims are fleeting and tend to go all over the place, so you better be prepared to shell out for something new and possibly unfun whenever the latest trend/flavor of the month hits. I'll be over here replaying System Shock for the umpteenth time and actually enjoying myself
I actually don't watch yt reviews anymore and hardly did. They're all egoistical manchildren who try so hard to be funny and fail miserably, and try to shove their opinions down your throat
I feel the opposite. It's really comfy going back and discovering an old game for the first time, especially if the community is really small or no longer active at all besides old forum posts. It's like you're the last person to ever play it again.
Bought MediEvil, a fairly obscure PS1 game, from a second hand goods shop for like $13 and I've been playin it for like 2 hours total and it's plenty of fun even though it came out like 22 years ago.
>It feels like everybody else played it firsthand and talked about it for years and you feel alienated, empty and stupid.
people who like talking about the game they played 20 years ago actually want new people so they can talk about different stuff.
