When will game devs catch up with military technology?
War games set in futuristic future

Drones are uncool
Drones are no joke, user.
I'd join the other army if they had mechas
And this is why the concept of modern "war" is stupid, a single drone could destroy any military vehicle with ease.
Ace combat 7 used drones pretty well. Most future games aren’t grounded in reality and go mech for the cool factor.
Even Ace Combat is going drone route.
modern war has been stupid since artillery
>step outside of building
>immediately die
wow great game fagmo
I wish Mobile Suits were feasible in warfare, I would actually join the airforce if they did
They are a joke. Large ones are as vulnerable to AA as any normal plane while small can be killed in hundreds by low power lasers that can be mounted on any apc.
This got me thinking, indirect warfare that consist on safely distance has always been the meta for humans. Starting with hunting by throwing stones, then throwing spears, then wagin war with bow an arrows, crossbow and then gunpowder. Sure you can argue that all eras always resorted to physical close combat fighting when waging war, no doubt about it, but with each era it becomes less and less relevant. Right now, the moment it all goes to hell for real every country will be using nuke drones.
If humanity ever makes contact with aliens I wonder if aliens out there all embrace the indirect long distance war late meta like us or if they fancy other war methods due to their own concepts of honor.
how easy do you think it is to shoot one of those down?
>fictional setting
>make it lamer than reality, rather than cooler than reality
dumb fucking cunt
space war with aliens probably goes something like
>aliens find earth
>aliens accelerate space rock to appreciable fraction of light speed towards earth
>earth gets hit by rock
>humanity dies
Tbh if one wanted a "realistic" war game, it would basically end up look like "command air naval operations".
Basically lots of dots and sensor blobs moving.
>aliens decide there is a slim possibility for humanity to become a threat
>send a meteor through our planet's core at the speed of light, destroying us instantly
and that's all she wrote.
There's Gary Grigsby's games for more "warlike" sims that are still accurate, because it is set in a time period where computers weren't doing everything, just some things.
>slaps your ass
>Jump jets only on the right leg
>MFW giant mechs doin the stanky leg
drones are boring
give me a giant robot
> imagine having tanks that can actually be defeated by tripping ropes/cables.
So indirect long distance warfare like us, it makes sense that all conscious beings would resort to this in their late meta I guess, no other way seems logical.
Japs love mechs but not drones though
>Large ones are as vulnerable to AA as any normal plane
This isn't really an argument against them. Why would I get one F-35 that can just be shot down when I could get 20 predators for the same price?
