Man, why is it that I'm more intrigued by the story behind how the shadow queen got captured than the story you play through during the main game in TTYD? There's just this random painter that gives you the background to everything on a rooftop.

You probably just really like lore

I honestly don’t mind the newer games going into the paper aspect more, though I’d prefer if it was something that could be paper related while still being explainable in universe. I do wish they’d actually have interesting designs again, though

What was his problem?

Origami king is the direction the series needed to go. Just add back the depth of the battle system from 1 and 2, be a bit more creative with characters and we're good. Bobby is also the best character in the series

Probably. I watch those hour long videos on WH40k lore for entertainment. I don't even play warhammer.
Stop asking, Slick.

Whatever you say, poopliss

I agree. Presentation wise, the game is amazing. The environments are gorgeous and the music is damn good. I always never liked the jazzy/goofy focused ost of Sticker Star so, I'm glad for the more diverse soundtrack. It's a pipe dream to hope for a return but, man it would be nice to see a Paper Mario game with this style having a traditional battle system that improves on the originals depth.

However, your statement about the best character is objectively wrong you dumb faggot. That belongs to Lady Bow.

Oh no, that spot still goes to Tippi or Count Bleck.

I agree you coombrain. While I like Bobby more, I actually think NIntendo should let toads and other species be female and male again because holyshit are the post SPM sausagefests

I wonder if a battle system that plays like 64 and ttyd but with tok’s tile turning.

Ever since the turn system was shown off I was always curious to see what it would look like expanded. All they had to do was add more attack patterns, better badges, status effects
Imagine
>Koopa character that spins around 1 entire row to deal spread damage
>Boomerang character that throws a boomerang in a L shape
>Spike who spits out balls that act as traps on the tiles
>Piranha Plant that can lock tiles and spits poison, can reach back row enemies
>Bosses work like the did in TOK, but this time the tiles are a arena similar to Fire Emblem, you take turns moving characters around the battlefield to attack at different angles and open up weakpoints

Or, fucking revolutionary idea, maybe some enemies attack before mario or inbetween mario and his partners turn.

If you make ocs, post them in the booru

I want to make an actual Origami Olly and Olivia one of these days

That would be fucking great

I like the Ring system, they just need more variety and make more unique patterns so partners can fight too.

boo!

What’s spooky is that Bobby’s plot works because it’s running off the idea of the other bob-ombs you meet.
It’s because of his amnesia that he was able to care outside his designated role.
I actually didn’t expect Nintendo to have him mention his old friend “scrapped in an accident”

You can’t really do much with Chain Chomps since all their variations in canon is simply “Different Color, this one is cracked”, but one thing I always liked was Sunshine’s Design of the chomplettes

I like to imagine that whoever makes bob ombs in the mario universe decided to cut on costs, which is why bob ombs can’t survive explosions anymore even though they used to be able to.

Bought TOK for cheap, and I’m enjoying it more than I thought I would.
All they need to do is have more enemies have some effect on the ring board, and bring back elements from earlier games like partners having more gameplay functions.
Hopefully Nintendo eases up on the mandate shit, since you can tell they’re limited in certain areas despite the game being more creative than the previous two.

Tanabe undersells his creativity, what happens in Bowser’s Castle in TOK was fucking amazing and he must realize that he should do more cool shit like that instead of suppressing it.

I think what i've noticed is that Tanabe is actually very creative, but he always forgets to give something depth, which are usually his new gimmicks. TOK is very creative and I hope next time they have the restraint to not use more stationary bosses because they actually worked so well with this games story.

It’s funny seeing people get filtered by the Boo gimmick
We need more of that, there’s a gimmick in Chapter 5 that only works because of the enemies.

Bootler’s scream in front of Forever Forest got me as a kid and I remember hiding when my cousin played it.

Tanabe loves Super Mario World so much yet he only brings back Dino fucking Rhino and yet Rex gets left out

BRING HIM BACK

the color schemes of the Paper Airplanes make me think they were supposed to be the Dinos

I really like the design of the Origami enemies, i like how Boo’s have their SMW mouths in these designs

I like how fucking Goomba’s and Pokey’s heads flip down loose in their low Heath, they’re so fucking cool.

This is a nice thread

>Alien Invasion plot
>Enemies are the villains version of Mario enemies
>Focus on Bowser’s Minions is a thread throughout the whole game
>Replayable Bosses
>Luigi’s jump height and that one spring jump
>The blatant reference to the Trio Hammer
>Yoko Shimmomura is one of the vocals

They really took a LOT from Mario and Luigi to improve themselves, Keep going, it’s clearly working and pushing in the direction that’s benefiting the series

Next Level Games gets the credit but Tanabe was the one who created the ideas of the Character Ghosts

He’s REALLY good at being creative, he just needs to push even more and drop the restraints he pretends he has

TOK could have been great if the gameplay was good, but Tanabe really sacrifices everything just to make things """"new""""
