PS2 emulation

Retroarch just added PCSX2 support. This is a game changer for ps2 emulation.

What does it made apart from run games without a standalone program?

>This is a game changer for ps2 emulation.
Why's that? Is PS2 emulation finally gonna stop being shit somehow due to this?

I thought Retroarch was just an easier way to access PS2 games and the "Cores" are just the different emulators. I guess it'll get a few more people interested in PS2 emulation but I don't see why it's a game changer

Unless it has been tweaked to increase performance and accuracy then who cares. Retro Arch is bloated and enough of a UI mess as it is.

Zig Forumsros...should I take the retroarch Pill?

Is the sound still fucked when emulating Shadows of Rome?

to bad ps2 got no games

You can run Retroarch on Xbox.
Last time I wanted to play Nocturne on my PC I had to use SteamLink.
Very based.

*on my TV I had to use PC&SteamLink.
Also yeah, we do get Nocturne Remaster.

no

Retroarch is coded and optimized much better than previous emulators aside from dolphin (ps1 core actually works and isn't shit like epsxe) as well as easy overlays and has the best scanline filter that works on a wide range of consoles. As long as the pcsx2 core is solid and runs well then it'll perform better than the standalone.

>Things NOT to expect for now:
>* Android support. Totally dependent on upstream efforts to make PCSX2 more portable. This will remain for 64bit x86_64 PCs for now.
>* No Mac support. GSdx has OpenGL 4.x requirements and Mac doesn’t meet them. Standalone should be the same in this regard.

Now I can maybe finally have the emulator and games on the same drive without the hitch occurring. Shit took me days off trial and error to fix.

Can you update it through RetroArch now?

PCSX2 is still garbage

Does it finally fix the input lag?

>Retroarch CRT shaders in PS2
hell yes

Yes. Don't listen to detractors. They literally just hate it for not being exactly like their early 2000s emulation days. People here still use ZSNES, genuinely purely out of spite for Retroarch. Don't be a faggot and let Zig Forums's reflexive contrarianism deprive you of a unified emulation experience.

Good aside from the red tint. PS is huge amount of dithering and a bit of blur helps with that. On a CRT with S cables these low resolution backgrounds look sharp as hell. On an LED/LCD they are blown up x4 with no ditehring blur and you just see pixels and big dots all over.

use retroarch for everything except PPSSPP and Dolphin

> Good aside from the red tint.
original ps game had that.

Gonna wait for the steam release of Retroarch

I'm calling it - we're going to have fully reverse-engineered and emulated a PS4 before a decent PS2 emulator appears

thank god i can now play persona 3 fes

I would've laughed at you but RPCS3 is progressing way faster and is somehow a better emulator for MGS2 and 3 than PCSX2

Does this mean it'll run on my computer well enough to not lag? I've only had bad experiences with PCSX2 when it comes to slowdown, I beat Klonoa 2 recently thankfully on it but it still had a decent amount of moments of slowdown.

how so? I use Retroarch for PS1 stuff but PCSX2 for PS2, why do I need to change anything?

YES FUCK YES

>you can now run the same exact thing you were running before except through this other program for no reason whatsoever
Yay? I don't get it.

>This is a game changer for ps2 emulation.
How..? It's a frontend.

That's not true. MGS HD ports were bad MGS3 runs like shit on RPCS3 unless they fixed that.

>game changer for ps2 emulation.
no it's not because the core is still PCSX2

it would be the same thing if you use it alone it or with retroarch

NIGGER

>This is a game changer for ps2 emulation.
It... isn't? It's just a frontend. RetroArch is only useful for stuff like Beetle PSX, Beetle Saturn, mGBA etc. You should use the standalone version of everything else because cores get updated less frequently than the emulators themselves.
