This. I took Japanese jiu jitsu as a teen and my shihan did nothing but pair me against bigger dudes or himself when sparring. Albeit since it wasn't brizilan it was less about ground grapples and "winning" by exhaustion.

Jiu Jitsu only works in a street fight when you’re like a purple belt. When you got your blue it’s still sketchy to use in a fight you better be quick and ready to submit someone if you’re taking them to the ground on the street

China has a long history of scamming people and one of them was "secret techniques". They'd basically pretend to have some super power and if you learn under them you might be taught it as well. I didn't realise there were still people who pretended they could actually do that stuff around today though.

Chinese martial arts date back to a time when people still believed magic was real and built up mystique and prestige on the lie that mastering them could let you do insane shit like heal broken bones faster or double jump irl. To this day superstition surrounds them in China and masters deliberately encourage it to maintain their social status or run scams using the belief they have powers to their benefit.

Why do you think people get into lifting weights and steroids? Theyre extremely insecure and fragile people who were tormented during their youth and cope by getting big and strong so no one can hurt them like that again.
