Trying to make a sequel in the first place when it should've been obvious one would never turn out well.

This. Mitsoda thought he made the right choice when he approached Hardsuit. Maybe he played Blacklight or watched a video about it and thought "oh sick gunplay dudes". He didn't account for the fact that Hardsuit probably doesn't have the people that worked on the Blacklight games. Paradox OK'd the project because HL showed them a working prototype, they've got a script and the game shows Seattle in all it's glory. They've been working on it for five years prior to their meeting with Paradox. Paradox probably thought they were 99% done already.
The moment Alexandre Mandryka quits is when I know Bloodlines 2 was never a thing. He's a taskmaster, his task is to whip niggers hard enough to make a product. That, and everyone else is gone except for the new girl and the last few coders that stayed.

I forgot about that. Ends up being kind of sad, if they had just not called it a sequel and said it was set in the same universe more people might've been receptive to it. Seems like Paradox thought it would've been easy money if the game was already made.

There was an article back in 2019. It's basically less about power and more like Mitsoda going "Hey I like you guys, wanna make a shooter?" and Hardsuit said yes.

Vampire the Masquerade became irreversibly pozzed and attracted the worst kind of people possible. This very same people, who often lack both ability and work ethic wherever they go, became part of the project.

Things started going south when they clamped up about details, potential demos and so on. The game was probably just a proof of concept with no direction and it had to be reigned in, which lead to friction between the few people who knew what they were doing and those who didn't.

The two dudes who could have made it work got booted by the SJW majority. Now we have the ME Andromeda writer taking over for the guy she herself accused of sexual harassment.

Cara Ellison seems like an SJW and she got the boot as well though. I think it was just due to incompetence, there has mainly just been negative reception to everything after the first trailer with people begging them to delay the game because of how bad it looked.

This seems likely. I remember being big into blacklight years ago and hearing about how so many people responsible were leaving the studio towards the end.

if you want to make a decent game about trans lads and other pop culture issues, well, you have to have a decent game to start with, you just cant have a team full of "ideas man" and then some awful developers

I knew it was going to be the failure of the decade the moment they named it "Bloodlines II" instead of giving it its own title as part of the Vampire the Masquerade game franchise.

Almost everything. It’s only saving grace is having Rik Schaffer back to do the OST. That’s it. Everything else about this title is a huge monkey paw disaster.
