Where were you when you discovered the CRT advantage?
Where were you when you discovered the CRT advantage?
CRT is meme technology
It's obsolete and shouldn't exist anymore.
>CRT advantage?
lul
Lying on my back incapable of moving after a disc slipped while trying to carry a 36" up three flights of stairs.
>instagram vs irl
why
based and CRTpilled, fuck indie devs that think games should look like they were made in mspaint
CRT Royale on a 4K display looks pretty much like a real CRT.
Only hipster zoomer faggots care about CRMeme
Wow, the right image is so much more crisp and clear! We've really come a long way since CRT. Thanks for showing us, OP!
No, it still thinks pixels = grille. It's dog shit.
>This is how retarded zoomers think
nice blacklevels on your left
LMAO
Soul
So is it like, impossible for some company to make new CRTs? I still have my old 19 inch CRT but it won't last forever.
With proper care & maintenance it'll probably out last you. Nobody is manufacturing new tubes and some kickstarter can't start them up because it's not an operation that costs a few hundred thousand, but one that cost a few ten millions.
>Nobody is manufacturing new tubes
yes they are
Nope, only new chassis with old stock tubes.
god damn I want to play Time Crisis and Point Blank so much
That reminds me, one of my friends bought some meme light gun online that's supposed to work with modern screens, I should ask him about it
Maybe the devs should stop making 50x50 three color sprites, we are long past the crt era, screens can display more than that now
>Its darker and half the derails are lost!
Wow. I'm really missing out.
do you faggots even know what game those are from
Wizardry
whats the best way to get emulators from pc working on a crt for maximum authenticity? or should you just get an old console?
Not really. The thing is, photos don't really do CRT justice because it's not just about how it looks in still images. Unlike a flat-panel display, CRTs have zero response time (and zero lag, but that's a different matter). What this means is that a quickly scrolling image looks just as sharp in motion as it does staying still. Flat-panels have improved over time, and they're not as "ghosty" and blurry in motion as they used to, but they still can't hold a candle to CRTs. They look absolutely amazing in motion.
That and the brightness of the phosphors is better than anything flat-panels can do. Even with HDR settings, it's nowhere close, and of course whatever you're watching/playing has to be designed for HDR specifically, whereas on CRTs having bright images and contrast was just the way the output worked.
neither of those looks like CRT Royale, what's your point
>turns off all lights
do people really play games in the dark?
Is this a filter or proper CRT?
It upsets me that filters rarely look like how proper CRTs did, I have yet to find a game that can emulate it with current technology.
>what's your point
read the post again
AFAIK no one makes CRTs anymore and they are usually too expensive and arent supported by anything after 7th gen
>CRTs
>expensive
lolwut? I'm pretty sure you can find old trinitrons laying on the curb for trash pickup, and plenty of other boomers and such with them still in their homes begging someone on craiglist to haul it away for them.
Last I checked, the only CRTs that are expensive are PVMemes. Those used to be a hidden secret and you could get them for cheap, but then reddit found out years back and I don't even want to know what people pay for them now. Probably hundreds for a babby-tier 9-inch screen
Memes aside I like the sort of texture and sharing crt scanlines give old games. Like that image the right side looks like some goofy cartoon mook. Left looks like some terrifying beast that wants to kill you.
why does it feel like everyone that loves CRT's and hates shaders are people that have only seen one in the last few years?
>>do people really play games in the dark?
yes its called a horror game you absolute retard
how does playing games in the dark make anything scary?
are you a child?
>shading
>LCDs fucked up the darkness in his room so bad he cant even experience horror anymore
im sorry
>blurry mess
>pixelated mess
???????????????????????????
The Polymega?
>being afraid of the dark
>so immersive dude
no, I'm just not retarded for wanting to fuck up my eyes looking at a bright light in complete darkness
Sounds like the Sinden Light Gun
The CRTs advantage is not visible in screenshots, because it's low persistence and zero latency, not disgusting scanlines and blur. Everybody who cared about quality used RGB connections (with hardware mods when necessary), and for maximum quality you can also remove the scanlines with a line-doubler.
