Little Nightmares has no plot

>Little Nightmares has no plot
>It's considered a good horror game

>Amnesia: Rebirth has a great plot
>It's considered a bad horror game

Why?

Imagine getting filtered by the plot of Little Nightmares

video game doesnt need a plot, it just need good world building, amnesia had that too, buit in that casse less is more, it would be actually better game if half of the monologues where cut.

Horror games are generally expected to be scary.

>Little nightmares
>A dream
>Implying dreams have coherent plots or make sense

>>Amnesia: Rebirth has a great plot
is it actually any good?
I was thinking about it. I didnt really like amnesia desu

>game
that's the point retard

>Amnesia: Rebirth
>a great plot
pick one

>>Little Nightmares has no plot
Filtered.

Sure you can have a good plot. But it doesn't matter for shit if you didn't actually work on making your game scary.

>A dream
What? I've just finished the game yesterday and nothing made me think it was a dream.
Haven't finished the three DLC chapters though.

>can't understand environmental storytelling
Thanks brainlet

Horror games are not about the plot.

Atmosphere is more important to horror than plot.

plot isn't what makes horror games scary. Lore doesn't make them scary either. It's just a spice you can add, at the most. What they're confusing Lore & Plot for is 'character building'.
>give more plot! this will make the player care about the character's more, because they will feel more attached
This doesn't work, and big-budget horror titles keep doing it. They slap a 50 page book onto John Mansion and expect you to Feel His Fear, and that shit doesn't work, I don't care or even sympathize with these characters. I sympathized more with the ferret from Rain World.

Text & story building is Okay in horror games when it's done in moderation, especially if it's toned down, and honestly it's sometimes best when it's not there at all and it's left to the player's imagination to build their Own explanation. If you have to break up your Horror Experience with a piece of paper that explains a nightmare some spooky bitch had back in 1976, you're taking away from the horror by believing you're adding to it.

little nightmares is a game
amnesia is a walking simulator

Ok autism man.

You don't need some 2deep4u plot that's actually some kind of labored metaphor for overcoming drug addiction, or suicide, or whatever stupid topic the dev thought would prop his failed writing career. No one gives a shit about that unless it leads to some kind of creative environmental or creature design (and it probably doesn't, because we're rarely dealing with clever people).

it’s nothing like amnesia, so you might like it
and the protag never shuts up

>Amnesia: Reblacked
Fuck off shill

>little nightmares
>tense with an extremely immersive dread-filled atmosphere

>amnesia 2
>some bitch never shuts the fuck up and the game won’t stop it’s fanfic tier “story” long enough to actually be immersive

>is it actually any good?
Nah
They fired the Soma writer to hire some "industry and movie vet" who shit the bed when it comes to writing this game.

these

>cartoons
>tense

it isn't a dream

...ok?
you're a girl who's trapped with a bunch of monsters and you gotta escape but the monsters and the plot are never explained

>They fired the Soma writer
why? was soma not a finacial success that reviewed very well? what the fuck?

little nightmares is fucking shit. why do people pretend it's good?

>why? was soma not a finacial success that reviewed very well? what the fuck?
It wasnt as big as previous game but it sold well.
Replacing people with someone "important" is sadly the norm in the industry, he wasnt really fired, they just hired someone for his position knowing he ether leaves or is fine with doing something else at the studio.
Once a studio gets big enough individual devs stop mattering and became replaceable.

Little nightmares has good pace and gameplay.
Amnesia 2 has fuckawful pacing and good gameplay wasted on yet another scripted run scene.

The story is subservient to the mood in horror games, not the other way around.
