Why did so many gaming Youtubers just release playthroughs or video about Silent Hill on the PS1?
It's probably my second favorite game ever behind MGS1, but everybody always hated it and said it was stupid and not scary compared to Silent Hill 2 (Yahtzee further popularized this viewpoint). I don't understand why all of a sudden it is receiving this much attention.
Is there some sort of Silent Hill news I missed?

Sorry, but SH2 is all around objectively worse than SH1.
1 has bigger and more interesting town to explore, more scary atmosphere, more varied and dangerous enemies, more challenging puzzles, and arguably even more replay-value thanks to its numerous "hidden" features.

Mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
DON'T use W10's own virtual disc app! It will not work.
Don't install under C:\Program Files\ ! This will cause issues.
The "Enhanced .EXE" is also the no-CD crack!
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate using ePSXe or PCSX-R.
Follow the SH2 widescreen fix site's instructions to the T, and you should be fine.
For 3 & 4, check the Guide.

-Play in the release order.
-Start with Normal difficulty! Don't do hard on 1st run (espec. SH2).
-Replaying them all is recommended; tons of replay value.
-Turn down the ingame Brightness setting, for better gamma & colors!
-Don't try to kill everything that moves, especially outdoors. Leg it, or sneak!
-Turning OFF the flashlight can really help w/ stealth!
I go through this in the morning every day. My bathroom light is nice and my face looks great but then I get to work and the lighting is harsh so every imperfection and discoloration stands out.

Silent Hill 2 isn't scary and it's without a doubt the worst game in the original trilogy only worshipped by people who watched a Let's Play on it after being told about it by their favorite artfag video essayist.
