Actually the sony box is larger than whats really needed in a vain attempt of having more store and packaging presence. Notice how the box for the xbox fits the console perfectly, while half of the ps5 box is air. So not only looks cheaper, but also uses more cardboard.

Xbox is doing everything possible to put their best foot forward since they need every bit of positive news given how last gen played out for them. The packaging really doesn’t matter in the end s as it’s going to be discarded or tossed in a closet. Xbox just happened to give a premium wrapping to their next gen offerings kinda gave me Apple vibes.

Sony doesn’t really need to do anything different for now and they know it. Xbox needs to make up ground and merging the PC/Xbox player base is a big part of their strength so this gen should be a wild ride.
