>+200 years after the war
>the radiation cleared out in several days
>people couldn't build anything better than duct-taped shacks in 180 years

seriously, what the fuck is wrong with Bethesda?

what isn't?

You realize this was Chris Avellone's idea, right?

This
The whole point of Avellone's self-insert Ulysses and the literary Everything-Proof-Shield that is the Tunnelers was to make Fallout more shacks and makeshift weaponry, and less civilization and politics.

Yeah bro what if the whole fucking game was rubble man that would be epic.

According to Fallout 2's ending humanity can already build cities from scratch. I don't know why they're still living in scrap huts in the east coast but in the NCR the Arroyo has palladio-style buildings with electricity.

Attached: Fo2_Arroyo_Ending.png (640x480, 138K)

didnt the Vaults come with a construction building kit thing like the GECKO I think?

Not all of them had a GECK. Just some.

>less civilization and politics.
honestly this is the worst part of the fallout series and why so many people continue to go back to FO3. Just the fact that everyone wants to kill and loot all day because society has fallen apart and it's pretty much all justified is compelling enough to write characters around.

Attached: 4396.jpg (800x1219, 356.73K)

nahh, it sounds pretty shit. explain then why was FO2 so good when it explored the idea of an evolving society after a nuclear war

that's arroyo not NCR

>people couldn't build anything better than duck-taped shacks in 180 years

Attached: Haiti Man.gif (400x400, 2.2M)

>explain then why was FO2 so good
Easy. it's not that good

Fallout 2 get praise because it added in assets that weren't in Fallout 1. Same reason Pokemon gold and silver has so many fans. It just added in stuff that was cut out of the original game. Fallout 2 is "ok" at best

Attached: 1587955976635.jpg (749x749, 54.44K)

Arroyo is the capitol of the NCR, retard

Attached: 1526442876963.png (291x281, 121.49K)

>game is not that good because it adds more stuff to what already existed

>>people couldn't build anything better than duct-taped shacks in 180 years
lol this definitely came from a NEET that still lives at his mom's house

well no one works in factories anymore. No one's producing screws or nails or other interchangeable building materiel. People only use what they can scavenge to build.

That would be Shady Sands, my man.

You LITERALLY scavenge a ton of shit over the course of the game
You're telling me people couldn't rebuild ANYTHING with proper materials in ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY YEARS
People can repair and handle robots but NOT BUILDINGS

Yes literally. We have 3d graphics and voice acting now. The shit Fallout 2 added stopped being impressive in 1999

Attached: hell nah.gif (187x220, 607.19K)

Underrated

Arroyo is absorbed into the NCR

>nobody could build more than a brazilian favela-looking shanty town in 200 years
>the vault dweller can make a nuclear reactor out of junk off the floor

Attached: 1602432624860.jpg (800x600, 70.37K)

>You're telling me people couldn't rebuild ANYTHING with proper materials
No I'm telling you they could only build duct taped shacks and low quality shit, retard

Attached: 1527185021070.jpg (600x512, 25.73K)

>people can craft bullets and chemicals in FO1
>FO2 has an entire fucking town dedicated to mining gold so the region can rely on a more stable currency instead of fucking caps
and you're telling me people in the new world can't craft construction materials?

Attached: 0000000 r you retarded.jpg (327x406, 43.42K)

Motherfucker you can build ROBOTS but somehow NOT HOUSES

Can you find a building around you, or a thing of use that is 200 years old? Like imagine a broom, or a hat or a wrench lying on the ground for 200 years, or a shed standing under the rain for 200 years with no repair. Things like that just don't exist around you, even if there is a pickaxe in some cave or a mine with that age, its probably rusted so deep, you can't use it and it will break into dust right in your hands.

Attached: 1586445928690.jpg (1028x976, 1.27M)

Its all fucking hyperbole from ppl who have never played original fallouts, even fucking bethesda fans when they complained about lore and shit despite ghosts existing in fallout 2 canonically(kinda). I completely forgot the plot in fo2 and somehow overwrote frank horrigan with the masters plan. Fallout 2 is good but not better than fo1 imo. The masters speech is kino shit the voice work made it even better.

180 years ago americans were riding horses and shooting indians with muskets, don't gimmie that shit when they literally repaired robots to work caravans and raiders even had access to working power armor

bricks are fairly easy to make
they could also build things with logs
NCR and gun runners have factories running
There's tons of schematics laying in pre war buildings probably

Bethesda just sucks

I never got how radiation was still so severe wouldnt that shit dissipate after 200 years?

This

Attached: FO02_NPC_Lynette_N.png (732x377, 579.66K)

>character can build a fully functional vault single handedly from trash he collected
>Diamond City residents can't advance beyond shacks in over 100 years

African blacks haven't built anything in millions of years

>200+ years
It's actually more like 400 years now.

Yeah, the Fallout timeline has become utterly retarded since every game wants to set itself further and further in the future. It's completely implausible that in four fucking centuries people can't clean up the place AT ALL and are still eating pre-war groceries.

Fallout 3 being set later than all previous installments is an unforced error. It could have easily been set 20 years after the Great War and it would have filled plot holes, not caused them

>the Enclave still having holdings on land
>an early, less effective prototype of the Enclave's aerosolized toxin plan
>the Brotherhood of Steel actually being idealistic and helpful before reality sets in about what they can save or trust
>a strain of Super Mutants that are totally incoherent borderline nonsentient retards with no organization and infrastructure before any figure like The Master comes along
>more ruins, radiation and cannibalism than usual

Attached: 990g5qpvn3x41.jpg (1080x1920, 226.84K)

i assume because of the amount of nukes deployed and radiation wastes, it created hotspots which makes it much harder to dissipate

>mods cant fix it

yes they can

Attached: 20201023164844_1.jpg (1920x1080, 295.21K)

>180 years ago americans were riding horses
the industrial revolution happened in that 180 years outside of america. The nuclear apocalypses was the opposite of that retard. The dark ages lasted what? 500 years. Try again

Attached: 1556235736394.jpg (419x610, 38.6K)

No, it's 200 odd

Look at Chernobyl, its only been 34 years and its all rusted and rotted away. Imagine the same place in 200 years, lol

Yep.
This is why Fallout 76 is the best Bethesda Fallout lore-wise.

still eating pre-war groceries and living in pre-war ruins. the remnants of humanity scattered into various tribes and gangs were incapable of unifying to do anything useful for almost 200 fucking years

FO4 is easily the worst offender

haha le epic billy madison reference good sir

Chris "Everything should be permanently bad, logical recovery in Fallout 2 should have never happened" Avellone
Chris "I hate actual post-apocalypse worlds with life in them and will now shove in retardedly OP enemies that would overrun humanity in a matter of decades just to screw with the lore"

Bethesda doesnt understand fallout fundamentally fallout 1&2 follow sequential events (being the grand child of the character from the first game) there is progress being built and society is regaing its footholds slowly. Societies like the brotherhood of steel die off because of their ideology, the ncr formed because of your actions in fo1, Bethesda doesnt understand this at all. They just take iconic elements
>death claws
>brother hood of steel
>caps
>radiation
You could just start anywhere else which they did but did absolutely nothing with it.
TLDR
bethesda is lazy ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Why do you think FO76 is? It's a reboot. The eternal wasteland.

they still built shit in the dark ages, faggot. they just didn't scrounge in the ruins of the ancient world for 500 years

>promo shows rifle strapped to the character's back
>rifle in game vanishes when holstered

LOL

Bethesda just don't know how to make Fallout games properly, they think it's about ticking off a checklist
Instead of good writing and interesting settings you have the same old super mutants, deathclaws, BoS, whacky robots and le ironic 50s music

Attached: 1590880034879.png (850x1350, 1.8M)

>Diamond City residents can't advance beyond shacks in over 100 years

That can be mostly blamed on the raiders and super mutants that surround the place really. Who the fuck would want to live out there?

>can't even fathom you can make bricks or smelt metal by yourself
>laughs at neets for not being self reliant
kek

test

>The Dark Ages
You just got done watching a documentary on the History Channel, didn't you?

I mean, there were plenty of decent quality towns/places in fallout 2 already
