PCSX2 or PC2 edition?
Best way to play
Other urls found in this thread:
chads play the ps3 port just to make people seethe
both are good PC is a little bit sharper the output on PCSX2 blurs everything no matter the resolution probably because it was a 480i console
also PC has 60fps mode tho the controller support might be shittier
based
also forgot to mention that PC widescreen fix has a -vert scaling option so the cutscenes don't have out of bound areas means you can play in widescreen
PS2 on a CRT
>PS2 on a CRT
SH 1 - emulate
SH 2 - PC
SH 3 - PC
SH 4 - emulate
Imagine suffering through a buggy mess of a port just to "omwn" teh normies epic style. You spite no one but yourself when you do that.
why not emulate 2 and 3?
[inaudible noises]
2 has an amazing HD enhancement for the PC edition.
It's the definitive way to play SH2.
Well, you can emulate 3 - it'll be great, but 2 is objectively better on PC now with this mod:
enhanced.townofsilenthill.com
Soft per-pixel shadows, updated 2d textures to look good at HD resolutions, better widescreen, additional autistic fixes etc
About per-pixel shadows
well i literally finished SH2 yesterday on PCSX2 on 1080p. Fmv's could have been better but i think i had a bad setting.
>PS2 with “ps2 to hdmi” on a smart tv
PCSX2 is the second best way to play it now, but for the future - consider PC port when you'll want to replay it
PC with the widescreen patch. Game still looks and runs great.
You can it's perfectly valid but they have their own quirks
the enhanced edition has some nice additions like soft shadows for example if you up the res in SH2 on PCSX2 the shadow resolution will also be upped and the shadows will be way too sharp but it doesn't happen on Enhanced Edition you get those nice blobs
EE also has good widescreen no out of bounds shit like on PCSX2 support HD fonts they recently introduced HRTF audio
it's just feels more modernish I personally don't like some of the redrawn assets atm but it's quite a good release
I'll be honest i don't plan on replaying any of them, but if i do ill try and set up the PC version. I'm not too far in to SH3 and don't care about widescreen, should i steal a copy of 3 and set it up?
No reason to do that with SH3, really, just continue and enjoy
PS2 and PC version are extremely similar. With the fan patch the PC version gets sharper self-shadows and much sharper DOF effect, the DOF in particular looks much better than the PS2 version, the shadows on the other are a little too sharp and the blocky ones from the PS2 aren't anything to write home about either, so it's a matter of preference but neither are perfect. PC SH2 Enhanced Edition for example now officially has proper soft self-shadows done by DirectX shading effect and it looks really good quite superior than all the rest. Hopefully some fans will find a way to get this shading soft effect on SH3 PC version as well in the near future.
2 and 3 are free on myabandonware user
if you don't care about widescreen then don't sweat it tbqh it's not worth it they're almost 1:1 the SH3 PC port was done by TS themselves
He is correct about the CRT, SH3 was designed for CRT TVs.
Imagine using a meme with nigger hand on it
PS2's shadows are a disaster, so ugly.
I recall playing the Xbox version for the first back in the days and being amazed at how good the per-pixel shadowing looks, it made me wonder how the Xbox could pull off shadows so pretty.
Hi, please stop posting pictures of my pure waifu please, she's been through a lot. Thanks!
What the fuck was his problem?
I always err on the side of the original, even with emulators. Ports are so rarely done correctly and I don't have a smooth enough brain to get triggered by black bars from things not being widescreen.
I remember i played it on pc. Also, what's with the influx of SH3 on Zig Forums?
I just pirated the pc port, which is pretty bad
the game also kinda stinks compared to SH2
SH3 is actually almost a 1:1 port of the PS2 version. It's SH2 that was limited because the porters were forced to design the port for CDs, so they were limited and had to limit the quality of the sounds and FMVs. The lead of the porting team actually posts on the Enhanced Edition forum.
I remember the PC port to be good but last time i played it was a decade ago
I started SH3 not too long ago, recently got to the hospital. I've been going very slowly though since I choose to only play at night and don't always want to play it, pretty sure I downloaded this back in August. It's been fun though, might start it up tonight.
