Franklin had a personality problem. He is the worst part about all his related characters. They were trying to make a guy who was realistic about his situation but he was just so mopey and pessimistic. Michael was clearly designed to be a single protag initially given the time he is given.

I'm replaying V now and I'm enjoying the three characters to an extent. It allows you to switch for one task to another. Have a guy in the middle of a mountain, no issue, just switch characters.

They needed a more arcadey gameplay to capitalize and perfect the repetitiveness and grind of GTA online. Their online model wouldn't work with a clunky and heavy engine.

GTA IV is indeed a better game
however. I had much much more fun playing GTA V and put hundreds more hours into it than I ever did IV

GTA Online dominated GTA V and the single player expansions that were hinted at never emerged. They could make more money from walling off content behind microtran$actions than making expansion packs.

You are right. Especially driving physics SUCK in gta 5, you could do actual maneuvers and skilled drifts/180°s etc in 4

That sucks, the characters were a strong part of IV and getting to know them better was pretty cool compared to the old games where everyone only appeared just for missions.

True. Though one third of a good cast is still better than the only main character being a husk of charisma like GTAIV.
