You have 150% chance to hit the target. BUT you forget, that each time you have 50% to miss. Which makes you
50% + 50% + 50% = 150% chance to miss
It's literally impossible to hit target if you have only 50% chance each time. I'm sorry.

play in hardest difficulty, it does actually help you and remove the RNG entirely you can still get ultimately fucked in the ass and it will happen more than once

they actually force you to make decisions that are potentially risky, im my book thats a good thing. Honestly if you were playing proactively the timers were almost always reasonable. Just stop overwatch camping on a roof.

eh. some of the hold out missions are rough. I can't recommend it. First couple hours are great but once you hit the meat of the story it falls apart

This. Missions get fucking intense when an alien ruler, his harem and another pod decide to get between you and the objective. I ended up having to sprint a phantom assault around while the rest of the team got wailed on
