When does it become fun
Terraria
after the first mechanical boss
Hardmode
When you alt+f4 and choose to play a better game instead.
When you beat Moon Lord.
when u accept pic related as the better game
>cannot enjoy pre-hardmode because it doesn't have as much content
>cannot enjoy hardmode because everything's getting fucked by corruption/crimson/hallow (without spending literal hours tediously making hellevators to prevent further spreading), there are wall-phasing enemies at night and all the enemies can fuck your shit up in Expert for at least half of Hardmode
LMAO
For me it's the first substantial forrays into the underground, if you don't like that, this game might not be for you.
Nice jest, broski.
Probably not for you. At least you didn't pay $60 for it
this is why I pirategames first
When you get faster mobility.
just play journey mode put it on whatever difficulty you like, disable spread, don't fuck with the rest.
please leave cucklefish
>no arguments, resorts to ad hom immediately
Starbound has its problems but it's miles better than the snorefest that terraria is. Never fucking understood the hype over that game, the visuals look like pixel puke, the tone an unfocused mish-mash of awful early 2010s meme humor, the gameplay is as basic as you can get, and the combat variety is abysmal (ooh sword, but STRONGER) especially with how shit melee is.
Terraria really has no merits other than the bosses being sort of fun (moon lord is good I'll admit), that's it.
I don't want to trust myself with Creative Mode, but it's such a fucking dick blow that they limited spread disabling to, they could've at least added a difficult corruption/crimson/hallow boss that would stop the spread when defeated, but instead the best thing we get is Plantera slowing it down
relax cucklefish employee we know you have mandatory shill quotas but leave me out of it
take your meds
>ad hom
go back
>For me it's the first substantial forrays into the underground, if you don't like that, this game might not be for you.
Well the interface is bad and the rules are arbitrary (build walls of a certain type then NPCs will appear)
A game which requires a tutorial to play is not good
best 5€ I've ever spent
It doesn't need a tutorial and you are supposed to figure shit out on your own and explore.
Not an argument
Having played through it a few times, I know what you mean. I've started editing in starter items related to the "class" I want to emulate to kick-start the fun.
How do I get past early game? I just keep collecting more useless shit and nothing ever happens
I remember downloading a map editor and putting an 8-block wide wooden wall between the corruption/crimson/hallow shit because I DID NOT want to deal with tryingto stop the spread.
After you get hermes boots and cloud in a bottle
go to hell
Kill bosses
Once you learn the wonky controls and realize how many fun weapons there are. I haven't played since the latest update, but I would just lazily build commie blocks for my NPCs and not really do any of the building shit. To me, it's an adventure game first and foremost, but some people prefer going full autismo on building.
And the Shield of Ctulu. That shit is basically mandatory for boss fights now, and it's only in Expert mode.
when they release calamity for new patch
>the visuals look like pixel puke
>the tone an unfocused mish-mash of awful early 2010s meme humor
>the gameplay is as basic as you can get, and the combat variety is abysmal
>especially with how shit melee is.
yes that's a pretty accurate way to describe starbound
After you get boots, hook and double jump.
When you stop being a dead-inside wagecuck
??? I never used that thing before and I beat all the prehardmode bosses on master mode before taking a break. Is it a hardmode thing?
Collect shurikens and kill the eye of cthulhu. Even better collect bombs so you can blow up the orbs in the Corruption and get a free gun.
The exploration is just shit and instead of fleshing several types of planets and biomes out with unique enemies and loot to get it's just one colourful mess with the same shit over and over again in different tiers, only broken up by a few set pieces like cities, little challenges and story levels, which still for some reason don't have anything unique on offer besides furniture.
Why even explore, when it's always just the same randomized loot to get?
If building a comfy home is your thing, well yeah I guess this game is better but even that is arguable these days
did you figure that out all by yourself or did you have to ask your debate club first
when u get friends to play it with together
It's basically a Shadow Warrior dash for Terraria. It gives you instant running momentum and makes kiting bosses easier.
This, some of the weapons are real fun to use.
Cope
I know what it is, I just hate the double tap to activate thing so I never used it for bosses. Most bosses can be pretty easily dodged with basic movement items anyway
>combat variety is abysmal (ooh sword, but STRONGER) especially with how shit melee is.
Did you even play this? Are you shitting me saying this coming from Starbound?
Aside from the craftable swords from basic pre and hardmode ores even just the fucking swords have numerous mechanics and attack patterns especially the later ones.
The you have spears, morningstars, yoyos and exotic one offs to which the same as above applies.
And I'm to lazy to write basically the same shit again for summoning, magic and ranged weapons.
