As far back as FE1 fujos shipped Ogma and Navarre since Navarre has a rivalry with Ogma and both of them are presented as being protective of women and refusing to hurt them, something they view as a sign of them denying their homosexuality.

No idea. In FE1 Ogma was presented as protective of Caeda as she stood in front of himwhile he was being tortured and eventually was able to free him, hence h feels eternally in her service. Navarre is just your classic edgelord with a heart of gold and would never hurt women and children. I don't really get it but I guess they see it as men trying to overcompensate. It's like in Japanese media why overly buff men are always presented as gay.

The GD in general seemed mostly uncared about it in my experience, I have literally never seen any kind of gay fanart of any of the GD boys. Yurifags fucking love Hilda and Marianne though.
