I'm seriously considering buying an Oculus Quest 2. Heard some people figured out how to remove the facebook requirements. Not interested in playing the games in the Quest itself but wanna use it with oculus link to play PC games. I have Star Wars Squadrons and Tetris effect. I don't want to larp in vr chat though. Convince me to buy it right now and tell me other things I can use VR for.

I like mine so far, I expected to use it for more pc stuff but my current setup doesn't work with link, and vd is finnicky so I only get like 40-50 fps on alyx even though its smooth on the display
the standalone stuff is pretty good, I sideloaded hyperdash and am having fun

porn is pretty good on this thing, i use it wireless for that and sometimes they have events that you can watch like a jelly fish tank show they had a while ago.
What was wrong with your setup? Computer not strong enough? Is it actually strict on the quality of the usb cable? Also can you pirate stuff by sideloading apps?
Have you used one? I was convinced after about 30 seconds and ordered it immediately. Unfortunately I have to wait two weeks, but I'm literally craving it.
It does something special to my brain.
Using it just for watching movies in a big screen theater is enough
I just got myself an S for like $100 used. It's pretty fun. Kinda wish I have a Quest 2, but I heard that the headset is kinda shit.
no, I have a laptop and the usb c and regular usb ports wire straight to the integrated gpu instead of the dedicated or something like that, its a known problem with my laptop model, even shitty usb c cables are supposed to work if you have a desktop or certain laptops.
and yeah you can sideload any apk using side quest but its a bit more of a slippery slope as you need verification to enable dev mode on your quest.
I'm happy with just using it for trying games that are in development or didn't make the store certification process
>I heard that the headset is kinda shit.
What retard told you that? Its arguably the best headset available
damn, look at all that open space. You could set the boundary to include all of that and then run around like crazy in onward.
>singe lcd panel
should have gotten the original quest while you could
What's a good military fps in vr?
Those of you with a Quest, can you please test something for me? If you put your device in dev mode already, can you try seeing if you can turn it off, or what happens if you remove your credit card? Then can you try signing up for a virtual credit card and using that to verify the dev account and turn on dev mode?
VCC example you can try: privacy.com
I've pretty much just spent the last two weeks playing doom 2 wads in VR
The headset itself isn't shit, everyone is just assblasted about the facebook crap
I honestly cant wait to dive into doom 2 vr. I've finished doom 2 probably 20 times, but in vr its going to be like playing it for the first time again. So much hype.
whats amazing is that all of the custom wads actually work
ive been playing ancient aliens, eviternity, wolfendoom, etc. feels fucking good man.
Awesome. How does it feel??
Alright lads I'm going in. My first dive into vr besides nintendo labo.
Anyone have that video of a black trucker playing beat saber on a road?
What's the control scheme? VR controllers or KBM?
Just use your smartphone with a $15 smartphone headset and a USB cable
it feels fucking great, but I have literally never experienced motion sickness in VR so i have no issues circlestrafing at max speed, your experience may vary
based 3dof poster
full VR controls with roomscale.
I think quest has a different zdoom port, I'm a PCVRfag.
Like most Oculus headsets it seems like the best all-rounder. Only fault I can see is that shitty IPD adjustment.
It's really good for the price.
My only gripe is the latency with link and the whole facebook bullshit.
Yeah the ipd thing is a let down. I think my ipd is around 67mm (self measured), but I can play at setting 2. I THINK setting 3 looks a bit clearer for me but then you get the black bars. But I can pretty comfortably play at setting 2 anyway
Wireless VD latency should only be 20-30ms which shouldn't be perceptible in anything but things like expert beat sabre
Is there a way to get virtual desktop for free?
I've got a shit router, so I'm stuck using the link.
The latency isn't that bad, but it's definitely noticeable, since I've had the CV1 prior.
Are you using VD? It should show you the latency. What are you getting?
