The new forums are okay. Still extremely "progressive", post anything against the grain and you'll likely be showered in dumb ratings, but the mods are chill and rarely ban anyone. And it hasn't become an echo chamber; that resetera cyberpunk drama was almost universally laughed at.

Garry outgrew forums and thought the Steam community pages and Reddit were sufficient enough support and discussion pages and he didn't want to own and manage a forum anymore that he didn't understand because like 2019 Garry and 2010 Garry are two different people. He also never communicated with the forum staff or userbase and liked to drop wacky surprises on them out of the blue and change shit that nobody liked or wanted to be changed, just for the hell of it, or to spite people. IIRC his reasoning changed after he got his girlfriend and had a kid.

Basically Garry is a twat and grew into a normalfag.

I feel knockouts news and politics is an echo chamber. Theres always some americans that start hyperventilating when something doesn't go their way. Though I was happily surprised when there were some really anti-muslim or anti-islamist comments after the recent attacks
The rest of the forum seems real chill but pretty slow

I've always had a mentality of "look but don't touch" when it comes to politics, even way back from when BDA was a Polidicks mod and turned that subforum into his own personal death camp.
I do appreciate reading it though, as a balance to the stuff I see here. Gotta see multiple perspectives and all.

kek yes. It's easy to not know, the forums started as the ones for gmod but grew much bigger than that to the point most people there didn't even play Facepunch's games. It's part of why he shut them down after Rust became so popular.
