The bakers have the same theme of a southern killer family but that’s kind of it

Depends how well they pull off the gothic horror aspects. I predict that the Bakers will end up being more 'iconic', but whatever they do in RE8 with the werewolves and witches and the villagers and that Van Helsing-looking dude will overall be more effective and engaging.
Kind of like how people reminiscence about "OMG the dog jumpscare in RE1 is the scariest thing ever!!" but then you play Silent Hill and it blows that shit out of the water 100x.
In short, Bakers will be easier to digest for a broader audience but true high IQ scholars will prefer RE8's themes and aesthetic. And RE8 will be the scarier and more engaging game.

I really liked how the game actually gave a glimpse of how they were before eveline got to them. Even with all that was done to her, the bakers tried their best at taking her in, but in the end she was a bratty who forced her own macabre vision of a family.

One of the few things that I disliked about 7 is how obvious it was that the Grandmother was Eveline. The fact that she just appears all throughout the house and that you can't kill her is a big giveaway.
