Just played the game for 40 hours and loved every moment of it. Even the more padded chapters - like the sun lamps one - that people seemed to have a problem with.

I can see why someone like yourself might dislike it, but i also think that it was impossible for you to like anything that came out of this remake, even if it was a perfect HD adaptation.

But this is a special case. This was my first game and i'm not Digital Foundry or IGN so the only aspect that matters for me is "fun".And i can't remember a video game that grabbed me like this since Nier Automata

yes i liked the combat and most of the music. the areas that weren't ruined by texture or lighting issues looked great as well. i liked some of the story inclusions, but sadly there were a lot of bad ones too

i liked the character interactions aside from the overuse of sephiroth. i don't know why you assumed i disliked them. oh right your strawman was that i hated every single thing about remake instead of just acknowledging that it had flaws.

I liked it too. The changes and the whispers were a bit odd but whatever. I'm fine with it not being a 1:1 remake.
I would have preferred the music to be a little more true to the original ost, though. But that's probably my only real gripe.

One of the reasons that i jumped out of consoles wasa how bad Square became in the HD era. And now i see some improvements and this is an amazing thing. Can you imagine old squeenix launch a FF that is not "the most beautiful game ever" as 16. Just focusing on gameplay and vision?
