There will never be a game like it again
>Game forces you to do something in order to advance
>Do it, because you don't have an option
>Dude wtf? You're such a bad person! Feel bad!
>Turn game off
self insert fags still seething
good
Oh no not my generic third person shooterino
considering how everyone still misses the point, it's probably for the best
>brainlet that missed the point
Going into that part blind, you would have no idea that you're doing a bad thing, its supposed to feel like any other action set piece in the game. That's the point. For all you know, you could have killed a bunch of innocents without even knowing that you did. In fact, there's a collectable that even verifies that claim when Walker picks up a doll and says he's not sure if his squad killed innocents and says he won't tell them to avoid fucking their heads up.
If you want a real choice, Lugo's death is the perfect example of having a choice to do something horrible on purpose.
the game goes out of the way to chew YOU, the player, out.
There's no self insert fantasy here.
They already made a game just like it called The Last of Us 2.
The game needed more of this, and less of muh white phosphor. That's actually what it advertised in the beginning. These types of choices - where it wouldn't matter too much to the overal plot outcome, only to yourself. That would've been subtle and noteworthy, not this 'MGS2 turn your gameconsole off to win'-BS.
Somewhere along developement, the team became a bunch of boring pretentious pricks.
I mean it's got a point, why should I care?
The story chews out Walker, not the player. The loading tip shit isn't chewing you out, its highlighting the absurdity of war glorification and making a statement of the genre. But always, WOOOOSH
>a video-game asks why you don't care about irl war-crimes
>Zig Forums's face when
>you would have no idea that you're doing a bad thing
I immediately knew because the enemies on the rooftops kept respawning when they didn't do that ANYWHERE up to that point in the game. Hamfisted as a motherfucker.
>Games That Will Never Be Duplicated
Postal 1
Spec Ops: The Line
Far Cry 2
Spycraft: The Great Game
Bad Mojo
imagine missing the point his hard, only on Zig Forums
But, I do care. Trying to equate actual war crimes to finishing levels in an FPS is extremely immature.
There are bunch of small choices you can make throughout the game. None of them matter in the grand scheme of things, but it’s very clear that was the point. Walker was doomed from the start and it doesn’t matter who he saves or who he lets die, nothing will change what happens to Dubai in the end. He fucked up the moment that he didn’t turn back after the first shootout, but then again, can you blame him? Learning the man he respected might have become a crazy warlord, him wanting to live up to his legacy as a hero, his PTSD from Kabul. You’d be curious too if you were in his shoes. The game isn’t about Walker going crazy— He was already crazy at the very start.
>self insert cuck
>walker made the decision to use the white phosphorous
>the game shows that it destroyed him and ridicules him for it
>WOAH WTF WHY IS THE GAME SHITTING ON ME??!
Self inserters are mentally ill.
everything directed at walker is also directed at the player.
>Far Cry 2
good
filtered
8 years later and self-insert fags STILL shitter shattered over this game lmao
>game is shit with 0 redeeming qualities besides technical stuff like graphics fire effects and some destructible objects
im gonna go to the store user, take your time and try to write something clever
>not liking far cry 2
you have bad taste
>Can't just use the game's cover
>Instead have to be a Wojakshitter
Kill yourself. For your family's sake. None of them actually like you.
For me, I think the bigger question is why games haven’t tried to do its thing since. “Deconstructions” became a trend shortly after Spec Ops released and yet there weren’t any works that managed to capture that feeling of a real descent into madness ever since.
Way to literally admit to self inserting.
>The loading tip shit isn't chewing you out, its highlighting the absurdity of war glorification and making a statement of the genre.
Yeah it's criticizing people playing war shooters, that's the point, and it's a dumb point.
it's a good game and you got filtered
in a matter of fact, Far Cry 2 is the best Ubishat game, and the best open-world FPS (as in pure FPS)
it's not self-inserting you mong. the entire game is making fun of your unga bunga chimpanzee brain for enjoying violent video games that glorify war.
>TLOU2
What a retard.
>any game that tells a story where i cant self insert is bad!
Genuinely think this is nearly my least favourite game i've ever played.
Playing on hard you chew your way through hundreds of enemies with relative ease - but the moment you get to a "moral decision" moment, suddenly all the enemies can one hit kill you and your squadmates.
It felt like the narrative was heavily dependent on having the player be reflective of their actions - but when all your actions are forced by ridiculously set up dichotomies, it didn't carry any weight for me and the gameplay wasn't up to it otherwise.
Only concession i'd give is the setting is neat.
