Botw

Zelda fans are fed up and will most likely move onto other franchises at this point. We could argue all day about how bad BOTW is, but I'd rather not. The question I want to pose is: Would BOTW be as big and so positively received if it didn't have the following attached to it's name?
>Zelda
>Nintendo
>Switch launch title
I think a lot of Zelda fans are realizing that Nintendo simply does not give a shit about the fans, the lore, the classic style of gameplay, and the soul of previous entries. God, now I know how classic Resi fans felt all these years. Change is good, but it needs to push boundaries and be soulful. Botw's legacy is a chinese ripoff game, pissed off zelda fans, series tourists appeased, and nothing more.

Wind Waker was the peak of the franchise, they need to make wind waker 2

Shut the fuck up cubie

You mean Majora's Mask?

Its legacy is retards seething after three and a half years.

Posting before the cultist arrives making the same posts.

BOTW it's shit; I'll explain;the game is just way too open with not much to do. Compare it to other open world games like Skyrim and Oblivion, you'll see that there really isn't much in BOTW. Around over 40% of The Great Plateau is just emptiness, and around 20% of the locations aren't even that important unless if you want to 100% the game. It has only four dungeons, four. Yes, Majora's Mask also had four dungeons, but MM had great dungeons with detail and each one of them felt different. Don't say adding too many dungeons is bad either; Twilight Princess had like eight dungeons, and each one of them felt different as well. The music isn't great, especially not compared to other Zelda games. Where other Zelda games has more emotional and vibrate music, BOTW has some random piano sounds and adds no emotion or vibrance to any location in the game. BOTW also really doesn't feel like a Zelda title, rather just some strange game with TLZ characters. The story sucks as well, there's not that much story, which is shameful for a big open game like BOTW, especially considering BOTW was a part of a game series that is mainly story-driven. For one, the guardians have no backstory, no character development, and no purpose. It's these factors that somehow make Fi leaving Link in Skyward Sword more emotional than the guardians disappearing. For better Zelda stories, take the sadness of MM for example, MM was a very depressing game which still makes me sad, or the uncertainty of OoT, which had Ganon basically taking over the entirety of Hyrule and Link has to defeat him. The bleakness of Twilight Princess or A Link to The Past, and BOTW has none of that.On top of this, Link absolutely has no purpose, the player has no purpose. I mean for all we know, BOTW's Link could be made to believe that Calamity Ganon or whatever is actually a good guy. It just barely fits in the timeline and overall isn't that great, sure it is a bit good, but it isn't that great and it's heavily overhyped.

Don't worry. In time they will all join us GenshinBros.

Must be sad to be this delusional.

I hope that's pasta

I liked Botw because it's the closest to an "updated Skyrim" that we could get in the recent generations. Genshin Impact tried to use the same formula, but it falls short really badly and the core of its being is just a waifu fapper gambling addiction simulator

>but I'd rather not
we both know that's a lie

Chad Genshin Impact:
>Ran out of stamina? Fuck it, keep running
>Inventory management? Fuck it carry all the things
>Weapon durability? Tf is that? Keep your shit forever
>Weather resistance? You're built for all the weather
>Buying arrows? Fuck it, unlimited arrows
>Throwing your weapons? Dumb mechanic, who needs it?

Virgin BOTW:
>You used your stamina up, you have to rest for a few seconds
>You can't carry all of that, too heavy
>Cool weapon you have there, too bad it'll break after a few uses
>It's too hot, you're gonna die :(
>It's too cold, you're gonna die :(
>Oops you ran out of arrows
>Oops you threw your weapon again

>day 1341

Nice emulation glitch

I liked the fact there's less dungeons and not a strict sequence to do any. Hells, I've collected the Master Sword (+50 shrines completed) before even doing any dungeon. You're just a faggot who wants the series to retrograde because is too hung up on his personal nostalgia

One of my biggest complaints about BotW
>LoZ series is filled with iconic bosses, and even pops up with new memorable ones all the time like Stallord or Koloktos
>only bosses in BotW are blobs of goo with shit slapped all over them. All beaten basically the same way
>final boss is just a bigger version of it and then essentially a cinematic fight you can’t lose without specifically trying to

The terrible interface ruins the game.
>open chest
>get drawn-out notification for weapon
>get another slow notification that my inventory is full
>open weapon menu
>decide what weapon I should dump
>select weapon
>drop/throw weapon
>open chest
>get weapon
>all-in-all you waste just as much time obtaining the weapon as you ultimately do using it
Shit like this is why BotW is not a masterpiece, they're decades behind other developers in terms of basic functionality.

Slapping bright colors on something doesn't automatically make it good. Genshin Impact's overworld is as soulless as it can get

Nintendo not best at QoLs, prease underestando

having played just about every zelda, I can confirm this is the best one hands down. I sorry you need a companion to tell you where to go, and an exact sequence of dungeons to have your hand held through. this is traditional zelda, NES days of actual exploration, interesting mechanics, and the physics engine blows everything else out of the water.

if botw was not made by nintendo and instead made by some unknown company, it would probably have even a higher score and been more influential than it has been right now. I would have shaked the industry way more heavily, now its just "nintendo" again doing it right again for once.
But its not something that can be made on a whim by some unknown (A)AA studio. you would need at least 300 people.

>some unknown company, it would probably have even a higher score and been more influential than it has been right now.
wrong.

My only true issue is the damn degradation system. I understand the idea of cycling through your weapons, but that everything falls apart after 3 slaps is just infuriating

BOTW is overrated dogshit. The world is mostly empty and devoid of anything to do or look at. The thing about large empty worlds is that they have to be done right, Shadow of the Colossus is an example of an empty world done right. BOTW just feels like there's literally nothing to do. Weapon system is awful and tedious, boring as shit too. The crazy manipulation of the physics/systems of the game are really cool to watch, but basically inconsequential and don't provide anything except Twitter WEBMs for clout.
BOTW is basically just a collection of good ideas with awful execution that didn't work together, and the only people who can enjoy that garbage seriously are nu-males and autists who can spend hours labing out some garbage manipulation of the engine.

I wonder how they got away with the complete rip off of BoTW? Isnt that violating some kind of IP law?

linearity is better
open world is shit

>Look, we could argue all day about the quality of this game, or you could just accept that it's shit, mmkay'? :^)

This.

It's been 4 years. Why are you all so obsessed with this game still?

LMFAO get help Doug.

BotW is one of the most acclaimed video games of all time. Find some way to cope. This isn't healthy.

Who?

I don't think I would consider myself apart of the "BOTW is shit" crowd. Though I have alot of complaints against it, I still spent 50 hours of my life playing it, which is more than I can say for any other AAA game in the past decade. However, for people to consider it a 10/10 masterpiece worthy of all the praise and sales, this would require me to ignore all of the problems of the game, not to mention personal gripes that I have with it. You ask me to willingly ignore the overpriced DLC, the lazily implemented hard mode, the very poor optimization which leads to excess load times and terrible framerate, the insultingly easy puzzles and korok seeds and divine beasts, and you even ask me to ignore how easy combat is, and how BOTW falls upon one of the laziest forms of vidya design there is, aka the "just make your own fun" gimmick.

>dude if combat is so easy, then let yourself get hit
>don't use buffs or armor or weapons
>you gotta give the enemy a fighting chance
>don't put all of your effort into it
Really? It's too much to ask for Nintendo to make enemies that are smarter? I think the only time I've ever died in this game was to a lynel. I can't even say that about the bosses, or ganon himself.

>w-well the game isn't about combat! stop expecting anything from it
If you're going to half-ass a concept, why even include it? But of course this is implying that my post won't be discarded by people who think I'm a "seething snoy tranny" before they post their cavalcade of shitposting spam, which isn't helped by the "BOTW is shit" crowd who only encourage the spam.

I'm so happy Terraria never has these problems.

Breath of the Wild is the only good Zelda game. All you've done is spout buzzwords.

>c-c-cope!

LOL cope with what? A game rated 97 and crowned Game Of Decade? Is that what we should cope with? Ok LOL

>A game rated 97 and crowned Game Of Decade
Wow It's fucking nothing.

You mean Phantom Hourglass, right?
