The only cartoons being made today are "Therapy for Millennials" and "The Adult Sitcom inspired by Family Guy." Those are genres. John K is the one who aims to help the field out of that, so get it straight!
There's more inventiveness in any 1 episode of Ren & Stimpy than each year of NuCartoons. "iconic visual traits" of semi-famous characters are sourced from Ren & Stimpy, and not from Ren or Stimpy or the other characters in general. Just literally some drawings the episodes made.
As well, using storyboards is just competence, like having the director of a live action movie on the set for filming, doing his job, instead of in his office taking lots of calls.
