Yeah, and all those visitors are there playing the game so they also cost you (the regular model is GPT-3 as well, just a smaller and cheaper version). If you get an average 1 cent of ad revenue per visitor but paying OpenAI for GPT-3 access costs you average 10 cents per visitor then that's not a viable business model. The numbers are made up but you get the point.

Hosting the website itself of course is basically free. Actually running the AI model is also relatively cheap (much cheaper than what "Open"AI is also asking for the access), it's just training that was expensive - using the cheapest market price for cloud computing, it would have been something like $10M - but unless you want to go back to GPT-2 which is publicly available, it's seller's market for now until a comparable language model is made publicly available or you get competition from other AI labs that would drive the price down.
