Is it worth playing it in 2020? I just finished GTA 5 and 4. And now installed GTA SA with few mods (compatibility and high resoutions, new vegetation and PS2 yellow filter). The graphics seems not a problem, however the character models look like shit (wtf with CJ face).
I was playing it back in 2006 however I didn't do any missions, just running away from cops and killing pedestrians using cheats for the weapons.
Yes its's a solid game that still holds up today. Just make sure you get the OG soundtrack with it
Sebastian Mitchell
Gtav would of been better if the fast ass shooting of san Andreas was a part of the game
Caleb Sanders
It's not too outdated and is still lots of fun today.
Julian Scott
Were you born in 2000, sweaty?
Gabriel Russell
it's still by far the best GTA game. GTAV looks prettier but it's an unbelievable bore to play
Henry Perez
best gta
Aiden Bailey
Huh, did they change the soundtrack?
Logan Campbell
They had to remove songs as the licensing expired. So in the newer version of the game on steam a load of the decent tracks have been removed or replaced. You need to mod them back in
Tyler Evans
san andreas is 90% boring gimmick missions VC and IV are far better playthroughs
i bought this one a while back with Vice City, GTA4, and GTA5, and i started em all but haven't touched VC, 4 or 5 since, while I complete SA. SA is the best one
Jaxon Wright
I remember how i dropped it after maybe like 10 missions because of how boring and depressing it was.
Adam Long
Just like your parents did to you
Robert Harris
that top left part of the map is weird as hell, I didn't even know it existed for the longest time since the game never sends you there
Zachary Ortiz
Hehe.

Holds up WAY better than GTA IV. Having recently played the base game and LC episodes, I forgot what a slow and clunky piece of shit it was. Ugly graphics with boring character design and an awful, lifeless map. Also had much less features than SA for the sake of muh realism.
SA doesn't have the best story, but it has the most varied world and gives you the most freedom to fuck around in the series, which is what really matters in a GTA game.
Caleb Morris
>here's far more to do besides the missions and San Andreas exceeds the other games in that aspect by a lot Quantity over quality. You can do a lot of stuff, but most of it is not great.
Dylan James
Non-ironically, SOUL. Each area felt diverse and had a theme going on. Compare it to the dull wasteland of GTA 4 or the bloated mess that is 5
Parker Stewart
>Holds up WAY better than GTA IV Fuck no. SA suffers from too many cooks and the engine is shit.
Because the devs did whatever they could to make it bigger than it seemed through tricks like making the cars slower than they already were, draw distance, and long roads.
Michael Lopez
Well definitely not as outdated as GTAIV that's for sure.
GTA IV’s engine was far worse. Poorly optimised, felt like you were fighting a constant battle for control. Everything handled like a wrecking ball on Valium, from the cars to the characters. Just a frustrating chore to play
Xavier Carter
Perhaps I should have specified with art style. Everything was just washed out grey and brown, and overly dark lighting. Also the character models were just really uninspired.
Jeremiah Wilson
GTA games literally never looked good for their time and especially not character models so i knew what i was getting into when i played it, the thing that actually bothered me a lot is the abysmal sound effects in SA, the first time i played it I legit thought something was wrong with my game but no, the guns are actually supposed to sound like popcorn
Joseph Carter
>GTA IV’s engine was far worse. Nah, it was responsive and the only time the gunplay wasn't shit. Seriously, compare GTA SA and IV, and any other third person shooter from 2004, and SA has aged harder than 3 or VC.
Mason Rodriguez
>the thing that actually bothered me a lot is the abysmal sound effects in SA, the first time i played it I legit thought something was wrong with my game but no, the guns are actually supposed to sound like popcorn San Andreas' gun SFX was downgraded compared to VC's. V did the same coming after IV.
Jace King
The mystique has worn off after playing SA:MP roleplay servers for 10 years and traversing the entire map over and over, but there is still nothing like it. Everyone who likes open world games must play it.
Play it now and tell me that shit is responsive. The input lag is dreadful, especially switching guns mid combat
Luke Turner
IV had soul.
Nolan Richardson
>Play it now and tell me that shit is responsive. That shit is responsive
Levi Russell
I hope GTA 6 will have the same mysterie.
Joseph Reed
On top of that there is one gang area. I drivee countless hours around Los Santos trying to find that last area. Then I gave up and later saw few Vagos there and was like wtf. Getting the gang war ti trigger was a pain in the ass too because they spawned so rarely. And yes, back in the day we didn't spoil games by looking the answers from internet.
