bump

XIII has a cool world, amazing OST, the characters are good and the story is mostly fine but gets legitimately confusing towards the end. Gameplay is pretty good once it finally opens up. Some big pacing and linear issues overall, of course. I didn't find Grand Pulse all that interesting to explore but it gets more bearable once you get the Chocobo, the crystal quests were mostly boring except for some cool fights.

XIII-2 has an even more confusing story but it involves time travel and it's very fetch-questy and they remind you what's going on every time you load a game so you can kinda tune out of it and don't miss all that much. Caius and Serah are great. Gameplay is still solid but I didn't care all that much for the Pokémon mechanics and I would've liked a more complex Crystarium. OST is even better somehow.

I still haven't played Lightning Returns. I'll get to it I swear.

Excellent lore, for XIII only though. Great OST and gameplay is really fun specially at end game. LR is my favorite ARPG.

Schizo design. Only marginally better than II, XIV and XV, but still among the worst games in the franchise.

Played all of them
13 is shit
13-2 is alright
LR was pretty good for the combat but establishes Lightning as the most powerful FF character and the biggest mary sue.

FFXIII-2 is the best one. Most likeable protagonists, best villain, and much less suffocating than XIII. Honestly couldn't get into LR, could feel the low budget from every orifice and the timer gimmick was stressful.

Nice. I'm playing XIII and am enjoying it overall(just got to Gran Pulse), excited to play the sequels even more now.

XIII has amazing lore but you need to read notes to understand it. Most kids didn't read it, same for jurnofaggots, leading to low score.

>hurr just read this poorly produced infodump
retard

Better than FFXV

XV is shit. KYS B*rry

FF15 is a shit game.

i downloaded it for lightning but deleted it cus there was a black guy in the first 2 minutes

xv is a great game what are you talking about

15 being shit, also type the numerals instead of the letters, barry.

BASED

Ff13 suffered from horrible dev hell. I wish we would have seen how the game was meant to be. Otherwise a really good rpg with a dumb ending and stupid VA choices. Wouldn‘t mind them remastering the triology.

Newfag here, actually curious how was Zig Forums when FFXIII was announced?

I don't remember but what I do remember is the shitfest when it was announced for the 360 too.

Its shit. Never played it.

but i don't want to

Less nazis.

I only played the XIII and fell asleep during a fight. So I didn't pick up a FF after that. 2/10 Vanille was C U T E

I like XIII's lore but the fact that it's barely exploited by the game itself is a huge failure on its part. Huge contrast from X which had much stronger worldbuilding that was actually relevant to the main story. Even in XII's case where there's more lore than there is plot, it gave a good sense of being a small part of a larger world, which XIII doesn't really because there's no towns and very few NPCs.

There were a few fanboys seething that FFXIII was multiplat (on 360, which was a huge announcement at E3 2008).

Oh shit, I remember that, since I was one of them. Fucking cringe

XIII-2>>XIII>>>>>>Wiping my ass with sandpaper>>>>>Lightning Returns XIII.

I unironically consider XIII-2 to be one of the best Final Fantasy games not a high bar admittedly held back by being the middle child in what could be lovingly called XIII's "storyline".

Was it kino?

XIII has a lot of problems that are emblematic of feature bloat. For instance, did you know that time travel was actually supposed to be part of the first game but was cut? I never had a problem with the story because they spell it out for you in the dialogue. Anyone that complains it didn't explain anything are probably the same people that don't know how to analyze the context of movie dialogue. It's otherwise a very mediocre game and is absolutely mid-tier at best, very ho-hum.
XIII-2 is much better and has much better ideas. Better story, better gameplay, better diversions. tri-Ace did amazing. One of the best RPGs of the 7th Gen.
LR is much better than people give it credit. Technically it's an infinite game, as you can keep doing NG+ and get stronger & stronger with no level cap. It's also hilarious that in the game where Lightning loses all personality, she shows the most personality she ever had. And yes, she does become in canon the strongest protagonist in the history of FF, but she does lose the ability after the final boss. Behind XIII-2 for me, but still very good.
The Episode i short story book is also a decent bridge for XIII to XIII-2.

I do find it funny that the best version of these games is one Xbone and soon XSX. Mainly because of the FMVs that are compressed on PC and were remade at higher resolution for Xbox.

console wars because it was PS3 AND 360 and were bitching about how the 360 was going to hold it back.

360 version was 3 discs
