It's a crazy good cpu, but I do think it's silly that there's so much demand because most people buying it won't be making full use out of it. I say the same thing about people buying up the 3080 video cards.
You don't "need" that much power unless you're into productivity. That old i5 2500k / 6GB gtx1060 is more than adequate for video games.
Nigga do you realize that different people have different needs? You don't "need" videogames. It's a luxury. Just like some people want to play at 4k/60. Good luck getting even locked 60fps on a 1060 with good graphics settings. People don't want adequate. They want perfect.
Lincoln Diaz
>People don't want adequate. They want perfect. Why do people still buy consoles then?
Parker Jackson
>perfect 2020 still buying consumer tier components Literally kek
Ryder Cox
Cuz anything with a brain buy consoles only fatsos and retards will spend more than $500 on a pc just to play console PORTS
Benjamin Hall
I need it for my 4k 144hz monitor. Hell, even a 10900k struggles to break 120fps in many games
Charles Hughes
>videogames are one person
Kevin Myers
Most normies and people with money will just buy whatever powerful thing gets marketized for them. They don't even know what is their CPU usage at and if they play a game that drops below 60 or 120 fps they are thinking that they need to upgrade.
Grayson Johnson
Yeah console ports that still run at quadruple the framerate lmao and no anal*g st*ck aiming
Robert Turner
Why should someone want to use it to its full extent? A lot of people know their usage and want something that will last them for years -- which the 5600X is an example of.
William Rivera
>You don't "need" that much power speak for yourself dude, i dont even have a 1060. my pc is older and its time for me to upgrade.
Andrew Russell
how big of a jump is the amd 5000 series? Should I get or just take a discount 3000 ryzen?
Angel Lewis
Sounds like poorfag cope OP

Its like 20-30% faster. Significant. I personally am gonna hold out for an XT variant near the end of life so my X570 board will have as long of a life as possible.
Blake Perez
I want to half the amount of time I spend rendering large, high-quality webms you faggoty fuck. I want to be able to encode high-quality 1080p streams to my friends at 144 fps. I want to cut my loading times by any possible fraction in a world where processors/memory bottleneck an M.2 drive. I want my processor to actually be able to handle downloading games as fast as my internet can support instead of hitting 100% at half of my download speed with my M.2 drive pushing a 30% load.
I'm fucking busy, and I would pay 3 times their asking price if it meant I saved just 1 minute a day, and this is definitely more than a minute. Sorry your time isn't worth anything to you or anyone else.

The $299 5600X processor ties or exceeds fastest single-core performance against all other non-Zen 3 options. With how cheap it is for the enormous amount of performance it has over Zen 2, just get a 5600X.
Andrew Morris
>That old i5 2500k / 6GB gtx1060 the two things that have, in this last year, dropped completely behind the recommended specs for 1080p/60+ on high.
Aaron Turner
>look mom, I posted it again!
William Brown
I'd how a 2500k would fare, but I'm still using my 2600k to this day and its usage hovers between 30-50% depending on what I'm playing.
What's the percentage increase over Zen 2? The 3600 can still be had for $200, while the 5600X goes for $300.
Hudson Smith
>I do think it's silly that there's so much demand because most people buying it won't be making full use out of it. It is better to have loved and lost than never have loved at all
I am on i5-4690k and never played a game that was bottlenecked by cpu unless it was me trying to get crazy frames in some messy spaghetti games like today's Team Fortress 2 but having more cores wouldn't help there.
Benjamin Green
5600X isn't the productivity CPU, it's the best gaming CPU. The 5900X and 5950X are more on the productivity side but are still just above even in most games with the 5600X. Also, go back to /g/, faggot.
