The only genuinely bad areas are Demon ruins, Lost Izalith and Cristal cave.
The notion that the entire second half of the game is bad is an exaggeration.

Ash Lake is garbage too

yes

I love this cover dont know why people hate it

Crystal Cave is fine, but yeah Demon Ruins and Lost Izalith are trash.

Nah nigga Ash Lake is one of my favorite zones in any game. Its empty with nothing but arriving there the first time without knowing anything about it was a god tier moment for me in video games.

The only people who think Dark Souls' second half is bad are Zig Forums contrarians. However, the second half really isn't as good as the first half, which peaked at Anor Londo.

Not aesthetic at all. Looks like the cover to some generic hack and slash

Demon Ruins is fine though

I enjoy every section of this game. From blight town to lost izaleth. From the asylum to the endgame.

Not really. Looks better then le man sitting down,

>The notion that the entire second half of the game is bad is an exaggeration.
Its not even the second half, its like a third of the whole game. The only areas you can't access without the lordvessel are Lost Izalith, Duke's Archives, the last bit of TOTG that houses Nito, and obviously the DLC. And yeah the only areas that truly suck are cystal caves and lost izalith, and even then its really just the lava field and the "boss" that suck there.

The enemy placement is hard evidence of how unfinished the whole area is, and demon firesage and fire sentipide are shit bosses

Le man sitting down fits better with the tone of the game

Isnt the cover artorias going into the abyss? Its kino.

izalith isn't bad at all, it's just annoying that the bonfires are so spaced out and the closest one you can warp to is the chaos witch bonfire. It helps to give her 30 humanity to hit rank 2 in the chaos covenant so you can open the secret passage that lets you kill the bright bug thing early to save solaire.

Artorias doesn't use a shield. And holy shit. The shield is on the right arm. How didn't I ever notice that before?

thats for the DLC, or prepare to die edition at least

Most of the enemies in lost izalith (those brown turds that spit fire) are just cannon fodder. Makes the whole area feel pointless

Crystal Caves isn't even that bad. It's short and essentially just an extension of The Duke's Archives, in my mind. The Seath fight does kind of suck though.
Ash Lake is forgivable because it's a secret area with great lore. It doesn't need to be anything more than it is.

I would say the worst boss of the game isn't Bed of Chaos like most people say but Ceaseless Discharge.

You can just run past all of them though because they're so slow

I would've liked a secret boss in ash lake though

I don't die multiple time to ceaseless discharge because of arbitrary crumbling floors and the game asking me to do platforming

well it does have a hydra that can jump over the narrow strip of land that you run along

Exactly my point. The whole area seems pointless and unfinished
Doesn't count. It's the same hydra from darkroot garden and it's not a boss, and if it is, it's a very shitty one

anor londo was a turn down for me
looked unfinished af imo

It's one of the best designed areas in the game. What are you talking about?

flat, orange, empty; those are the 3 words that come right into my mind when i think about it.
also big halls, very few enemies
srsly it was a big turn down for me in terms of level design

>Great tier
Annor Londo
Undead Parish
Undead Burg
DLC
>Good tier
Sens Fortress
Painted World
Blighttown
Lost Izaleth
Dukes Archive
>OK tier
Undead Asylum
Darkroot Garden
New Londo Ruins
Demon Ruins
Valley of the Drakes
>Shit tier
The Depths
Ash Lake
Crystal Cave
Catacombs
Tomb of the Giants

>Catacombs
Someone got filtered by Mr. Bones' wild ride

As someone who 100% it, the only area I truly despise anytime I start a playthrough is Duke's Archive. Even the sewers are more fun.

I breezed thru it, just wasn't very fun

Let me guess. You went to the catacombs first on your first playthrough

Catacombs, The Depths > Annor Londo, Lost Izaleth (boring as fuck)
anytime

it's meant to be an early game area

>Cristal cave

This wasn't bad.

DARK SOULS
IS FUCKING
TRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPE

dukes archives is pretty boring too.

There's genuinely having a different opinion than most people, and then there's desperately reaching for the most contrarian opinion possible so you feel special.

It really isn't. There's nothing to do there before you meet gwynevere.

This will forever be my favorite character creation music

retarded

>supreme
burg/parish
catacombs
>great
darkroot
sen's
painted
blight
depths
>good
duke's
tomb of the giants
anor londo
dlc areas (bosses are great, areas just good)
>bad
the rest

I can see it. The boss of Catacombs is Pinhwheel who is a very easy boss, one of the easiest

Crystal cave and demon ruins are fine

You can collect some imba weapons (great scythe, lucerne, not sure what else) and other loot, and make fire weapons at the smith which are great for much of the game

Demon Ruins and Lost Izalith are trash, not a lot to defend here. I like the aesthetics though
Tomb of Giants is clever enough to be a simple area with a troublesome gimmick but it works. It's far from bad.
Duke's and New Londo are both good, the caves is too short to make up for a bad area.
The Kiln looks amazing and I kinda wish it was a full area

>The notion that the entire second half of the game is bad is an exaggeration.
Yes.

im not trying to feel special, you're just trying to fit
i just have my opinion.
there's not even a coherent path at the start of the map, you have to go though comic ridiculous paths like pic related until you reach the elevators to progress into more big orange halls, until you reach the rooms with the silver knights, then it gets better, but not by much.

>Catacombs
>Tomb of the Giants
Found the retard who didn't use a fucking lantern as the game suggest it to.

Dark souls 2 was mediocre though. Complete quantity over quality and it feels like shit to play compared to the other games.
Bloodborne is the second best game in the series after DS

I would even argue that Demon Ruins is fine, though I love the trope of "early-game bosses become regular enemies"
