I'd say this gen is more hyped than ps4/one.

Nowhere near enough of a leap from the previous generation.
Other than looking ever so slightly better, there is literally no reason to upgrade.

Why do you think so many games, cyberpunk for example, are trying to launch on the previous gen too. Imagine Xbox 360 coming out and tonnes of devs saying "nah, we'd rather keep developing on xbox original".

Maybe they could make a video game related event earlier in the year to showcase upcoming games to create hype or something.

A better question would be "what went right?"

Not enough consoles are launch and everyone knows that. And since its not artificial scarcity, alot of people have just given up on getting one this year or most of next year. Also if you have a Ps4 or Xbox already why bother?

I just bought a ps4 and I already own a PC so I mean there's no reason to be hype. I'm getting a XsX during the holiday season only for backwards compatibility and then I might get a ps5 if I'm bored

I can see it happening now. There's no fucking games and no reason to upgrade. All of the new IPs are delayed until next year and the biggest release of the year is 2077 and that's going to be trash but normalfags will eat it up.

The only game that's interesting there is godfall and it's a gearbox title that's being held on the ps5 until may. Couldn't care less about anything else.

Im hyped for starfield and God of war 2 and ff16 and dragons dogma 2 and the next respawn star wars game...but none of them are coming anytime soon so whatever. I'll play asscreed and cyberpozzed at 1080p and next year I'll buy whatever console or gpu seems like the best choice.

Honestly I'm still playing and enjoying games on my xbone x, and some on ps4, still have a backlog, so why buy something that just plays them a bit better? Only exclusive I want is DS, and I can wait.

I can't imagine Microsoft entering a major lawsuit with the biggest retail chain in the world. They could probably win but its not worth damaging their relationship with a company that sells a lot of their products. Also its pretty much nothing but good press, anyone who gets their console early is going to be pretty happy and probably have nice things to say.
