Best tales of game?

That's like being the tallest midget.

Fuck no

I put 10 hours into this game and deeply regret it. The plot's shit, the characters are shit, the dialogue is shit, the gameplay is SHIT. I can't understand how it got so popular.

I really like Symphonia and Graces, despite what everyone has to say about it. I still havent gotten to Vesperia or Abyss yet, but from the consensus those are the best ones. Phantasia will always hold a place in my heart too. I just wish these games werent so anime-y

OP pic definitely unrelated.

Threeway tie between vesperia definitive, graces f, and xillia 1 for me. I love all three of them to pieces, and the franchise hasn't been the same since zestiria fucked everything up.

Arguable between that and abyss.
Anybody who claims a game that was made later than vesperia is even good is a retard.

tale end of my dick

Abyss.
Battle system evaluation only: Graces.

>No mention of 2D Tales games

This thread sucks

are these fun? was looking at them on the switch eshop recently and couldn't tell

Tales of Destiny

Xbots lied for years about the (lack of) quality in Vesperia. So I played it, excited to play the game that supposedly rivaled Xillia 2. WHAT THE FUCK?! Not only is the game a bad Tales of game, it's just a horrible game all around.

was the best action rpg series ever for a while. hasn't been good recently. Vesperia Definitive is absolutely worth it on whatever platform you want though.

Abyss, Eternia, Symphonia,

How do people like Xillia 1 over 2?
They prefer a story about a pathetic simp over a Brotherhood/Father plot? Not to mention Ludger is way more fun to play with.
I get the reused locations and shit and the debt issue but I still think 2 is clear

They were only really good in the middle era. Symphonia, Abyss, and Vesperia are the best. If you can play the older ones I would recommend it as well, but they are a bit dated.

Games released after vesperia are of questionable value, with zestiria being absolutely abysmal.

Jude is only pathetic in the beginning. He mans up later on.
The debt shit and awful choice of endings ruined Xillia 2.

I love my wife.

I've had Tales of Berseria in my backlog for years. I just beat Ni No Kuni 2 and looking for another rpg. Should I go for it?

Berseria's combat is shit.

berseria is hot trash. The only people who defend it are people who started with zestiria so that is all they had to compare it to.

it's action? so not turn based? that sounds good. are there a shit ton of annoying random encounters?

looks like vesperia is the one on the switch i was looking at, definitive edition.

is there plenty of story/dialog?

Legendia

Fuck alright. I'm usually only a fan of turn based rpgs but playing Ni No Kuni 2 I feel I should give different rpgs a chance. Any recommendations?

Berseria is fun if you like the idea of playing as the "villains". It is otherwise a relatively average tales game.

depends on the game for the encounters. Most games have enemy icons visible on the field though.
as for the second bit, vesperia and most of the tales games have PLENTY of story and dialogue. One of the best parts is seeing the characters in your party interact with eachother through the plot and skits.

Encounters in tales of games are avoidable, because everything shows up on the overworld.

Tales games really shine for their characters, in general. It is pretty much like watching a trashy anime with a game attached to it.

Definitely Vesperia Definitive.

When does this game get fun? The combat feels so fucking slow and clunky. I'm just mashing my basic attack while throwing some artes in every once in awhile. Enemies will attack immediately out of hitstun too without any chance to react and it's so fucking annoying.

Depending upon your available options, try early-mid era tales games. Anything between tales of destiny to tales of vesperia will be good (except legendia, sorry legendiaanon)

i'm basically split between this and dragon quest XI right now then. i guess whichever one is more story driven and less grindy or time wasting on non-story stuff is the one i'll go for. i'm mainly interested in using it as a fun way to learn some japanese

once you start getting more skills for yuri that let him chain together more shit the combat will start feeling more smooth.

>the man who actually treated him like a real father and had him set for the future died
>gets over him in 2 days and doesn't care anymore
>millia ""dies""
>wahhhhhhh for weeks and weeks
Fuck that faggot. Xillia 2 is the goat because one of the endings let me slaughter that whole shitty cast

dragon quest is literally the poster child for generic rpg with as basic a story as possible, and loads of grinding. I'm honestly confused as to why you would even be considering it given what you want.

No
