Any form of music in a video game that is not diegetic is fucking stupid. All it is, is a weak ass attempt from the dev to manipulate the player. A sad scene shouldn't need a slow piano song to make the player feel sad and a fast paced battle shouldn't need a over the top piece to make the player hyped. The actual story and gameplay should be able to handle those things already. Books don't need music and neither do sports, do they?
Music in games is honestly insulting so I turn it off whenever I can.
But the music is pretty cool, more like a thing to enhance it rather than carry it, you're being too harsh on it
Angel Cox
I actually love music, and I have a playlist of environmental sounds that I play while gaming depending on the situation to add extra ambiance, I just know music and games don't mix.
Even if the first two are pretty good, they automatically lose points for being from video games, and will always be inferior to music made for the sake of music itself on a conceptual level.
>Books don't need music and neither do sports, do they? They don't need it, but music can accentuate both emotionally, same with games. Regardless, post more Haman.

Ice cap zone is an instrumental version of the jetzons unreleased "Hard Times" And it was not ripped off, Either, The composers chose to re-use that song they scrapped to use in the game. ice cap zone is an example of vidya music that was made for the sake of music itself
Nolan Flores
What the FUCK are you talking about?
Justin Parker
Like I said, cheap emotional manipulation. Maybe for some people it works, but for me it's just annoying because I know I'm being taken advantage of. As for your request, this is literally all I have, I don't even watch gundam.
Well I am willing to admit I was unaware of that situation, I would still argue putting the song in a game for kids cheapened it.
Then go back to playing 80'ies DOS text-based games you massive faggot
Levi Thomas
Accentuation doesn't mean that's all there is to it though. A moment can be emotional without music, but having music can make it that much more impactful. You don't have to look it as being taken advantage of. Your lack of images disappoints me severly though, and you should absolutely watch at least certain Gundams.
Matthew Williams
The fuck even is diegetic, you pretentious, trying to sound smart asshole?
Carter Murphy
>an interactive audiovisual medium should deliberately not use audio to convey emotion to the player >tfw replaying to bait
Jonathan Thompson
Do you watch movies with subtitles only and no audio, autist?
Owen Wright
Basically music in a video game is fine if there is a legitimate reason for it to exist like the main character wearing headphones or a bard singing and playing an instrument. Music being played through a speaker in a room or something would work too, but 99% of the the time the music just comes from nowhere and the in game characters are unaware of it which is weird no matter how you look at it.
Jaxson Wright
Last time I checked they were called VIDEO games, not AUDIO/VIDEO games.
Mason Bailey
>I would still argue putting the song in a game for kids cheapened it. Either this entire thread is bait or you are some kind of retard.
>he needs it to be fully explained in universe While cool it’s not plausible. The only time I think this has been done with games I’ve played is Persona 3’s opening although there is a theory the soundtrack is just coming from the protagonist’s headphones throughout the game.
Ryder Cruz
He is for sure

>Basically music in a video game is fine if there is a legitimate reason for it to exist like the main character wearing headphones or a bard singing and playing an instrument. So, TWEWY and Jet Set Radio?
