We cant, outside of Hitman its dead
It still baffles me that Ubisoft made one of the best stealth games of all time in Chaos Theory, and then proceeded to make every game after nothing like CT. Shit just ain't fair man
Double Agent was great, Conviction was alright but Blacklist going Call of Duty wannabee killed the franchise
An splinter cell VR is already confirmed by ubi and a mgs 1 remaster is heavy rumor from konami
Double Agent (Xbox, not 360 but orig Xbox) was like a sequel to Chaos Theory in the sense that it included a lot of what mad Chaos Theory great. Not quite as good as Chaos Theory, but still pretty damn good if you're wanting that CT fix but in a fresh experience.
By the way, the orig Xbox version is WAYYYY different from the 360 version. It's literaly a different game.
I liked the HD version much more than PS2/Xbox version
VR could be the future
Cant resurrect something that never was alive to start with.
Creating ONE half decent stealth game would be a start I guess.
on grounded mode tlou2 was pretty good
I blame the market, they wanted edgelord shit at the time and for some reason that stuck with splinter cell
I have mixed feelings for Blacklist, on one hand they made some good changes to the animations, the takedowns both non-lethal and lethal are great imo, and soem of the levels are close to what CT was supposed to be (a few from the grimdottir missions, the mall/water purification one and a couple others i cant remember) but liek you said having this call of dooty mixed with that one jack bauer 24 vibe was not good, maybe if they went back to some kind of cold war espionage where the stakes are high but you're not literally taking decision above the fucking president of the U.S of A.
VR is a gimmick that wasted way too many dev hours already that would have been much better spent on other things.
You get spotted in the game you get spotted in real life
They need to fix up cemu asap, I don't want to replay Kino Agent on the PS2 again just because the best version is held hostage by the XBOX.
Manhunt 3
I'll make a game when I won't be lazy anymore which means soon AMA
>Conviction was alright but Blacklist going Call of Duty wannabee killed the franchise
You got that reversed, bud.
Conviction
>linear as fuck that actively encourages non-stealth play through its level design
>binary stealth with a garbage black and white filter that literally made the goggles useless so they turned them into fucking sonar goggles
>ghosting? what's that? just murder everyone
>actually a level in Iraq that can not be stealthed through (hmm... I think there's another series that does that)
>only pistols are the only viable approach to """stealth"""
Blacklist
>open levels, maybe not CT tier but Breath of the Wild compared to Conviction
>stealth is still MGS-tier where all you have to worry about is line of sight, but at least shadows hid you and the goggles served their actual purpose
>actually brought back full on ghosting and rewarded you for it
>only 1 level that can't be ghosted and sadly it is a heavy shooter level, but it's over in 10 seconds
>suppressed pistols are back, but so are suppressed rifles and even non-lethal weapons like a stun gun and a tranq crossbow
You can shit on Blacklist all you want, but at least it tried to go back to actual stealth. It is an objective fact that Conviction is the worst Splinter Cell game and can only be enjoyed as as a generic tps.
>maybe if they went back to some kind of cold war espionage where the stakes are high
Why do Ubishit keep using Tom Clancy's name into their nugarbage that doesn't even have what you just said, which is literally the appeal of the "brand"? They're literally giving money to Clancy's estate for free considering no one who plays those games would be bothered by the sudden absence of his name on the game's titles.
I really miss when they used to do Tom Clancy's where the game story was some serious geopolitical thriller, be it Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell...
>I really miss when they used to do Tom Clancy's where the game story was some serious geopolitical thriller, be it Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell...
iirc, Clancy wouldn't write the games, but he would spitball ideas for Ubisoft. So that's neat.
Don't forget to shave this morning!
The final mission in blacklist was such a good throwback to the earlier games it legit feels out of place.
Then they ruined it with a dumb boss fight but until then it was really good
In a weird roundabout way, Splinter Cell was my gateway into gay Japanese shit
So I was a total normalfag and would only play things like Halo 2
Then I played Splinter Cell and ended up liking the franchise
Then I heard about MGS and gave the third entry a try
Ended up obsessed with it and all its entries
Then I wondered what other Japanese games were like, so I tried FFX and like it so I tried FF7
15 or so years later I am playing fucked up rpg maker h-games lol
IIRC he seethed over Sam's iconic goggles because it would be unfeasible to manufacture IRL or some nonsense like that. Not always right but he gave shit direction at least.
in case anyone is confused by this post, sc and mgs are both stealth games, which is how I found out about mgs (was looking for more stealth games to play)
anyone play HL: Alyx? How was it? I hate VR so I'll never experience it
bump
watched some gameplay footage of it, simple things like walking looks convoluted and annoying but still interested if it's good
Better patrols would be nice.
If you can pick the patrolman one by one without them going apeshit lockdown then the whole stealth thing is shit.
So far the only game has this is SC Blacklist.
They have row calls every 60 or 30 seconds if I am not mistaken.
>tfw you hear the sounds of Splinter cell in this

God bring back SC and have Tobin do the soundtrack again
SPLINTER CELL COME BACK HOME

Bank is probably one of the best songs in all vidya
What the fuck was up with Sam as an operator in Siege?
>make his model noticeably younger
>another new VA
At first I thought this was a hint at a Splinter Cell reboot with a younger Sam, but then I remembered this is modern day Ubisoft.
Because you whiny fucking morons can't handle change and just want to be fed the same thing over and over and over again. Chaos Theory - Double Agent - Conviction was probably the best, most innovative streak in video games ever.
>a traditional stealth game where you rely on shadows and environmental noise to mask your presence as a US secret agent
>an undercover agent game where you have to dynamically balance and sacrifice your mission objectives and your morality in order to maintain your cover within a terrorist organization
>a cat-and-mouse stealth action game where Punished Sam alternates between improvised John Wick attacks and disappearing into the shadows
And it was all tied together with an actual story and long-term character development. But after you babies threw your tantrums they stopped trying and pumped out soulless Blacklist and shitty Ghost Recon DLC.
Fuck you.
>Ironsides says he will not return as Sam unless Ubisoft gives him something really good
>See the teasers with him in wildlands
>Assume they are making a game
Half a decade has nearly past and all we got was another shitty ghost recon dlc.
Why does no one ever talk about Pandora Tomorrow?
